It would, but is there another one as beautiful as yours, which for those of you who haven't figured out that clicking on the green '94 S-100 on Hammer's signature pulls up this...

Say, it just dawned on me that you have the Michigan State or Boston Celtics of '94 reissues ... you know, green and white.
Is it bad that I still go googoo eyed when I see that pic...and the guitar is sitting right next to me? I was planning to post it for sale as an April Fool's joke, but then decided even I wasn't that mean. Woulda been kinda funny though... 8)
 GooGoo eyed indeed...beautiful axe! 8)

Hi all,

You can put me down on your list if you'd like. I own a really nice walnut colored S-100 reissue. S/N is FB000801, which I believe makes it a '98?.

'98 I think. But you'd have to ask Hans to be sure.

Pics?

Is this finish considered "walnut" or "natural"?

Gulliver,

If it was walnut, it would have said S-100wal as the model number on the sticker on the inside of the backplate. Here's a shot of my '77 cherry S-100 (top) and my '73 walnut S-100 to give you an idea of walnut finish. It almost looks brown or maroon, like Talisman's (near the bottom of page 2 of this post).

A question for Hans. Are all Carveds finished in "nature boy" or are just specific models "nature boy" and the rest natural. How can you tell, other than taking the backplate off and looking?

Hello Thunderface,

'Nature Boy' and 'Natural' were not used during the same period of time. 'Nature Boy' was a '70s finish.

As far as the Carved models are concerned, they were mostly finished in 'Nature Boy' and 'Walnut'.

'Walnut' is a darker finish than 'Nature Boy'.

Sincerely,

Although his wouldn't because it's a reissue. No stickers inside those.

A '71 JS II in Walnut. It seems only a smidge darker in the picture and on my monitor than it does in real life.

Thanks, Hans. That was the answer I was looking for on the Carveds for my S-100 owner's roster. Does that mean that all naturals in the 70s were "nature boy? or were just all the Carveds finished in "nature boy?"

Good point, Qvart. I missed that fact, thinking incorrectly that gulliver's was a vintage when I typed my response.

Sorry, I thought I answered that question. Maybe you want to rephrase your question.

Actually, you did answer it, if I am understanding you correctly. All the vintage ones from the 70s are Nature Boy, and anything natural after the 70s is just natural? Is that right? I did know the walnuts were darker.

Yeah, you'll see natural ones from the '70's that aren't carved that say "NB." The used "natural" in the '90's.

Yes! 'Nature Boy' was not exclusive for the S-100 Carved. Any model that was 'all mahogany' (S-100, Starfire, S-300 etc.) could be ordered with the 'Nature Boy' finish.

The official finish name for the natural finished S-100 reissue of the '90s was 'Mahogany' during the first 3 years and it became 'Natural' under Fender management.

IDK.... Seller states the serial # hard to read... maybe repainted over. I'll figure it out. And I'll post some sound bites as well.

Jeff

A lot of reissues were oversprayed - especially the black and white ones - making the SN difficult to read. Get some paper and a pencil ready.
