There's some apt descriptions on the sounds of mahogany vs. spruce tops in the recent "D17M" thread. I think they are both great... ya really cannot go wrong either way, and once you get one you'll just need to put the other on your list for down the road!

Good luck in your search! One thing that seems fairly clear to me based on various opinions here & my own disappointing experience with a 90's D25, the 70's (whether early, late, spruce, hog, flat, arched) seems to be the definitive era for D25's.

Hey thanks for the info man! Just spotted this earlier 1972 Guild D25M that's just this second been listed!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0092443358

Man I wish I could try these guitars! Going off a description is a real bitch ain't it!

I also wondered if anyone could recommend a good annual guitar buy/sell/trade show to go to in the states as I'm gonna go over next year and pick up a couple of guitars to take back to the UK. I've read about the Dallas one but is it any good and can you get a few vintage bargains?

Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks.

Looks like a fine D-25, WGA. Pretty nice shape too.

Yeah, sure would be nice to be able to play it. I prefer my archback, but then I've never played a flatback all mahogany D25, so what do I know? At least I can vouch for the archback models.

I forget who, but somebody on this forum has an archback D25M with a mahogany top. I'd love to try that one too.

WGA, Don't know where you are in the UK but Vintage and Rare have a black D25 at £995 and Frailers have a D25 NAT at £799. Check their web sites for details. Good luck, Steve.

Just pullin' y'alls leg there Markustus. Hideous isn't it? There was one some time ago of a similar color that the seller touted as "waterproof". Guess he had it plastic coated or something.

There's only one guy here linking to guitars with a color like that!

OK, here's a red one. Location is a bit outside my range & Price seems on the high side, likely to hang for a while.
