Yes... the "original" D-25 introduced in 1968 was solid wood, having mahogany top and sides and a flat, braced mahogany back. The transition to arched backs (a few mahogany topped, but most spruce topped) occurred ~'73-74. The spruce-topped arched backs are commonly seen for sale on eBay, flat backs seen occasionally ( a couple are up currently,
here and
here), and the mahogany-topped arched backs are more rarely (but occasionally) seen.
I think they returned to solid flat backs sometime in the late 90s, but am unclear exactly when.
