Speaking of George Strait and his D100, are those cold Coronas in your hand there, Jim? Jeff?

Just checking,
Joe

Yes sir, a pretty cool western store in the Stockyards. They have a bar in the store.......we found it! Drink an ice cold Corona and shop for boots at the same time.....can't beat that!

What were you doing in Waskom Toni? I didn't know there was a shop there. And most definately Toni, Lucchese are the most comfortable traditional boot I've ever had on my feet.

My dress boots are all Lucchese "1883" and "Classic", but my kick around boots, and the most comfortable boot I've ever had on my feet are coincidentally, Justin "George Strait" boots. More of a "Wellington" or "Roper" style work boot, they are 100% waterproof, as soft as a babies behind, and have soles like tennis shoes, and they are reasonable. The only drawback to them is that they are hot as they are thick anyway and being waterproof, but the uppers are insulated. Because of that, I wear them to do yardwork in that back as I don't think there's a snake in this neck of the woods that could penetrate them. Here they are in "Ladies".

Speaking of George Strait's D100 and footwear, these are my summer boots.

tevasandals.jpg

Good for hiking, kayaking, Guild playing, and generally goofing around over hill and dale. I'll wear them on the east side this weekend and keep an ear open for rattlesnakes.
I have a dress pair that is suitable for Pacific-Northwest Casual events, too! 8)

Pardon the interruption of the footwear veer  which I have enjoyed immensely and I'm in need of some new boots..... BUT when were the D100's made and did they make a lot of them? Was it a limited run or Custom Shop or..... what? Anyone? Tom in Vegas

Hans has discussed this here before, so I'll try and remember correctly. D100 production was in Westerly, but I think there were a few built at the Custom Shop. You'll notice the inlay on the fretboard of the D100 that George is holding in the picture......definately a Custom Shop job, but I'm sure George has several D100's. There were also a couple of D100 versions, one with a carved heel and inlaid with abalone markers, and another with MOP markers and without the carved heel. For precise numbers, you'd have to ask Hans as I've found the serial number list to be a bit deceiving at times for establishing exact numbers, but a pretty limited number built compared to other models. Hans has actual numbers.

Go to his house and ask George if he wants to sell it! Tell him "a bunch of Guild crazies told you to." :D
Chaz, as much as I would love to 'mosey on over' to George's house, I doubt I would get past the security gate. :) It's a gated ranch....lot's of them are here. :)
BUT, Chaz, I'm thinkin' I could be discreet and ask folks who know him...if he's interested in selling the D-100. Can you imagine, he isn't? Gosh, if he's still holding a Guild D-55, as late as December, 2010, I'm guessin' he's not gonna wanna sell the D-100. :( 8) :) But, hey, I'm gonna see what I can find-out...at least.

I've learned two things over the years.

1. It NEVER hurts to ask / negotiate. NEVER.

2. Patience and persistence can break down walls. Seriously.

Oh, and by the way, that's a JF100 George is holding in the poster than Jeff and I are flanking in the earlier post.

:) I should've said that most of the other things I've learned in life are either not so beneficial, or perhaps not suitable for LTG. :D

Crowds can be pretty rowdy there Carl, I'm sure he didn't want to risk a ding in one of his Guilds.

There is probably a thread of truth in that, Jim, since a D-100 is virtually irreplaceable. Don't know if New Hartford would even make one for him. Whereas he could get a new Taylor anytime.

Near gotcha Carl, but Cowboy's Stadium doesn't qualify as a local Texas venue; that's a few hundred miles north of his home down here in God's Country. I believe he uses stage guitars when he plays in Houston too. Of course Houston ain't in Texas anyhow...
