Don't know for sure, Toni. I doubt he had to sell it to make a truck payment.
Dr.,

I know...that's what sparked my curiosity. Mr. Strait lives here in Boerne on a ranch outside of town (he owns several businesses in and around Boerne and San Antonio...including a Chevrolet dealership, the San Antonio Rose Palace - http://bit.ly/mmPJQP , and The Scenic Loop Cafe http://bit.ly/mwFaGc. We see George around and about sometimes (gosh, he's a short cowboy). :) Exactly, why would he sell the D-100? But yet, again, when he plays the San Antonio, Dallas, or Houston rodeos, we never see the famous Guild. Just hoping he stills has it...and, plays it once and awhile. 8) :D

Toni

P.S. Perhaps, I need to put some of my sleuth friends who know George on a quest. :?:

Thanks, Fellow Texans, Ken and Jim, for helping me with my inquiry. Gosh, it is a dang beautifous Guild. Takes one's breath away! 8) My goodness, I want one (GAS....trying to remain calm).....sell the house, car, and whatever else is available, she exclaimed!     :::reclaiming composure::::: Phew!

Again, thanks Guys,

Toni

Go to his house and ask George if he wants to sell it! Tell him "a bunch of Guild crazies told you to." :D

Chaz, as much as I would love to 'mosey on over' to George's house, I doubt I would get past the security gate. :) It's a gated ranch....lot's of them are here. :)
BUT, Chaz, I'm thinkin' I could be discreet and ask folks who know him...if he's interested in selling the D-100. Can you imagine, he isn't? Gosh, if he's still holding a Guild D-55, as late as December, 2010, I'm guessin' he's not gonna wanna sell the D-100. :( 8) :) But, hey, I'm gonna see what I can find-out...at least.

Perhaps he is just like a lot of us and has a few travel, camp guitars to take out on the road.
The good stuff stays back at home now.

He takes some Taylors and Takamines on the road, but when he plays local Texas venues, he uses Guilds from his personal collection:

Thanks, Ken, great weblinks! And, of course, great photo of West! :) (Sorry, I don't know Jeff...great photo of you, too, Jeff. ) :)

I'm still curious as to where the D-100 (George playing it on stage) is.....other than photo ops.

I was never particularly good at geography, but Ken, I always thought that the Cowboy's stadium was in Texas.

Crowds can be pretty rowdy there Carl, I'm sure he didn't want to risk a ding in one of his Guilds.

And Toni, I'm sure old George has all of his Guilds stashed away at the ranch....or elsewhere. Seems like someone once told me "Strait Music" was a Guild dealer?
