How are you keeping up with which drawers you've already posted? Easy at the beginning, but I know I'd never remember past about drawer #6.
After 6 months, some of us might not remember which drawers he’s already posted. 😉
Sort of like a Jeopardy rerun that you know you saw the first time, but can’t remember any of the questions or answers…

Oh yes, and I was able to find the correct bushing for the guitar in this thread:

It took a while, because there were several slightly different ones used during that particular period.

Drawer of the month - Bigsby bridges

Here are some shots of the bridges in this drawer. Some vintage, some 'new old stock'; quite a few really rare variations that would be hard to find if you needed one. Not everybody likes these bridges; they are somewhat limited as far as the string sets you can use and also because they have an influence on the sound. In later years many guitars were converted by replacing the original with a tune-o-matic style bridge because the owner preferred that. However, hundreds of great tunes were recorded by people using these bridges and it's what came on older guitars originally, so if you're a vintage fanatic, you would like to have an original style bridge or at least keep one with the guitar, even if you don't use it.

Here's a detail shot showing a 'new old stock' left-handed bridge with a similar regular one; notice how primitive the compensation ridges look on the top one!

So much variation! Someone needs to write a book about Bigsby vibrato tailpieces and bridges (I think Ed Ball might be doing that).

Wow, that’s a lot of Bigsby bridges! Even some with the dog bone base! Looking forward to the next drawer

Drawer of the month - Volume & Tone knobs

Here's a drawer with old parts that I was really excited about when I discovered them, but it turned out to be slightly different than I initially thought.

GuildKnobs_1.jpeg

They were original old black knobs, with gold and silver discs, but they all had the 'volume' marking on them. What made it really weird is that they were all for pots with knurled shafts, but they also had a 'set screw' in the side, which is something that isn't necessary when you are using a pot with a knurled shaft.

I don't have any idea why this was done, but I've seen them on a few guitars from the '80s.

You may not notice it right away when you have a guitar with those knobs, because you don't really see the set screw when you're not looking for it, but you may notice when you're trying to remove the knob; you simply won't be able to get it off when the set screw is tightened.

So, if you're looking for some '70s G-shield knobs and you can't find original ones, these would work if you can live with the small screw in the side. Remember ......... 'volume' knobs only!

And yes, there are some early transparent G-shield knobs in the drawer, but those all have the 'tone' marking!

I think the set screw is to keep them from sliding off accidentally.

That is a glorious drawer!

And now I want to go open all my guitar cases and look for set screws!

That is quite an array. I don't need any, but it's always nice to know that they're out there!

What a treasure trove. I noticed that the knobs on my Hobokens have the set screw, and I've always wondered why.

Thanks for sharing, Hans!

Hans is the master! I'm an amateure but have found "part drawers" come in handy!

The great Westerly selloff resulted in a good portion of my knob assortment. Sure wish I would have purchased more as these items are getting harder to come by!

Say, if either of you have spare Nightbird knobs I can use a pair…
