Bass side glue up is solid after pulling the clamps off. I have a couple of spot glueing to do around the bass f hole, then I can take care of the edge of the treble side, and the warped cutaway area.

Great progress! Does it appear that the top delaminated due to excess heat or moisture or something else?

From what I've googled and from conversation, sometimes the glue on fifties laminate deteriorates. It seems to be random, different batches of glue survive better than others. This top has been flaking apart for a while, though.

I was able to clamp most of the warp out of the top.
Lower bout.

I'll take the spool clamps off after work tonight, take out the wadding, and start cleaning up the squeeze-out. While I'm doing that, I'll see what the neck angle looks like. No point in replacing the missing binding if it needs a reset.

Is is a really interesting thread. My hat is off to you for taking the time to document it all.
Selfishly, I‘m hoping it needs a neck reset so I can see how you do it. Great work!

One spot that needs to be clamped up. Top is secure and I need to clean up the squeeze-out.

Looked pretty good this morning. I'll put up some pics when I get home from work.

I'll lalso ook through my small collection of used pots from old stereo equipment to see if I have anything period correct. I have a bunch of old caps that leak high voltage, but are perfect for tone caps.

Prime use for old black beauties (black cats?).

Glue-up complete.

Finish is in great shape for the age. While nobody will mistake me with Fix it, the repair turned out better than I expected. Unfortunately, the top is flattened around the bridge. Not sure if I can do anything about that now. I could have put in a support before I glued the top down, and that would have restored the arch. 😕

Looks great so far. Maybe you can insert a sound post or bridge block to prevent further top sag?
