Is it soup yet?
Well, I've got to cut the binding ledge on the back, glue the binding in, slot the fingerboard, blind the fingerboard, make the fingerboard extension, glue the fingerboard, shape the neck, make and glue the neck filets, do the fretwork, finish sand the entire thing, do the finish, make the bridge, add the hardware, do the setup.

Why don't you have a nice piece of fruit while you're waiting.

An Octo Mandolin is the next up on my list of instruments to learn.

Other than frets, that is pretty close to the scale of an Upright bass... my 3/4 Engelhardt pictured in my avatar is 42" scale, google says mondobasses average 43"

I've been drawn to the Octave because of Sarah Jarosz... I've always dug the standard mando but it was a bit too piercing to my bass biased ears. I knew other sizes existed, but Sarah's guitar styled one made me research what made that tone.

Here is a good example
and another

@AcornHouse yours is coming along awesome... you are fueling my GAS for one with this thread! I cannot wait to see / hear it complete.

It's not really a surprise by now, but it's a great feeling how solid everything feels now that all of the structure is complete. Without the back there was still a little flex in the body, but with the box complete it's just one solid unit, from the headstock down to the tail.
