I'm re-balancing my portfolio of toys, & have decided that I currently have too many guitars, & not enough rowing shells. So, I'll likely be posting a few guitars for sale the next few weeks.

Up first is a '78 G-312 that I purchased from former LTG-er CapnJuan, shortly before he passed away. John's review of this guitar is the second post in this link: http://letstalkguild.com/ltg/showthread.php?163332-G-312-LTG-Member-Review

Spruce top, lovely straight-grained rosewood back & sides. Neck is a chunky handful, frets are in good shape, & the action is 4/64-inch at the twelfth fret (at both E strings, in standard tuning). It has a few minor dings consistent with its age, but no cracks or other major defects that I can discern. This is a loud, chimey strummer!

Another LTG-er (charliea) owned this guitar prior to John, & he said that the owner prior to himself re-glued & shaved the bridge. As far as I can tell the action hasn't changed in the 4+ years that I've owned this guitar.

Price lowered 8/24/15 to $800 plus shipping in the lower 48. Three-day approval time, with round-trip shipping at buyer's expense.

Thanks for looking . . . here's some photos for your review.

That has GOT to sound nice. I like the hog D-25 12, but a rosewood dread in 12?

Good luck with the sale and thanks for the memories.

For certain I'll also be selling a GAD30 (mahogany) purchased from killdeer about a year ago . . . just have to take some nice photos before listing it for sale.

Plus possibly up to three others (two acoustics, & one electric jazz box), but I'll leave them unnamed for now because I haven't firmly decided yet.

Forgot to mention that the G-312's three-latch case is in very good condition.

Here's another photo, showing an 18-inch straightedge laid along the fretboard. It projects just above the top of the bridge (by about 1/16-inch).

If I were in the US or closer, I would have bought that axe (even with the current unfavorable exchange rate) already, geo. I've always wanted a 12er and this one is special...

Good luck with the sale.

All the best,
Bruno

Thanks for the kind words, Bruno.

I'll give this one another week or two here at LTG, & then advertise it on Craigslist.

I sold that guitar to CapnJuan. It's a really good one. Regretted selling it immediately, and finally bought a NH to replace it.

Man, I miss The Cap'n. Raising a morning cup of coffee in toast.
Me too, sir! Me too. I changed the quote in my signature block the day he passed. I may change it one day, but not yet. It's too soon. Cheers to ya, John!! :very_drunk:

geoguy, that's a super nice 12-er. Good luck with the sale! :encouragement:

Thanks, Tom . . . glad to provide some fodder for reminiscence therapy, and maybe this guitar will find a new home, too.

I've made several excursions to other manufacturer's 12's, and always been disappointed. I'm told top-end Taylors come close to Guild, but they're very expensive. Martin makes an F512 clone but it, too, is expensive. If you want a 12-string guitar, take some advice and buy a Guild. The G312 is a great all-purpose 12. Loud, focused sound with a ton of single note clarity. Smoother with more balance than a D212/D25-12. Great if you're in a band, or play with others a lot. When I torture listeners in public, the G312 is my weapon.

Wiley Glenn Pickett (great blues name, huh?) is going to check out my G-312 tomorrow. I'll update this thread as appropriate, after his visit.

And...if geoguy's G-312 sells, do not fear, northbendbob. There will be other Guild 12-strings for sale on this forum, sure as the sun rises. And you can be comforted by the notion that:

1. We generally do not try to make money off of our sales.

2. We generally are pretty forthcoming about a guitar's condition.

3. We are generally pretty knowledgeable about what we are selling.

4. We generally will take it back if the buyer is unsatisfied after a 3-day trial.
