Things do go up. When it was said these go for a lot, I didn't realize you were talking so little money, comparatively to say Pat # Gibson p'ups.

Look at it this way. Buy the HB1's, be happy (is there a price on that?), put them back where they belong, in that guitar. Be happy, play, and in time they will be worth $1000.
I've sold lots of vintage pickups, always top dollar. They always sell.
Some else will buy these vintage HB1's if you don't, you'll always have regrets, and they will only go up in price.
Never buy singles if you can, always buy a set that was a set if you can.
