FS/FT 50s Fender Stringmaster steel for Guild

Time for a long shot. No idea if anyone here plays lap steel. Just in case, here's the deal. I have a late 50s Fender Stringmaster D8 console steel. A double neck. Refin (and well done) to a natural finish. 22 1/2 scale. All parts original to the best of my knowledge. Blade p/u selector, blend...

FS/FT Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb - $700

This amp is excellent in every way, and it works especially well with Franz p/us. I have one too many fine amps now ... Anyway, it's in as new condition: More pics and details here: https://newyork.craigslist.org/jsy/msg/d/montclair-fsot-fender-tone-master/7578190284.html Cash deals welcome...

New (to me), from the surf side

I do love trading. The latest brought me a guitar I've been curious about for years. The Hallmark 65 Custom. Which seems to be an enhanced, next gen tribute to the old Mosrite brand. Mosrites are famous for narrow necks, low frets. This Hallmark is relatively narrow at the nut, but not so...

    NS Starfire II dynasonic

I'm so curious about this model. Seems that not many are around. Anyone have one? What's it like? The other dynasonic equipped Guild I'd love to try is the NS X-175 special ...

Franz p/us ... picky about amps?

I think so. I try both my old Guilds ('62 X-50, '61 X-175) with every amp I can get my hands on. And do the same with P-90 equipped archtops, thinline hollowbodies. I figured, Franz p/us being rather P-90 like, that they'd be as accepting of different amps as P-90 equipped hollowbodies are. So...

These Newark Street Guilds are filled with surprises

Case in point: A 2021 Guild Polara S-100 in white. I just traded for it. Had never even seen one of the Newark Street S-100s, but did get to try a couple of the USA made S-100s from the late 90s, somewhere around there. And owned a vintage S-100 from the 70s, though it came to me minus the HB1s...

    FS/FT Eastman T146smd - $1,450

Gorgeous Eastman T-146smd with the original hard case. In excellent shape, no issues at all, minimal wear. I was told this is a 2006, have not confirmed that. It was little played when I got it. Looked new. Still does. I upgraded the p/us to Seth Lover humbuckers (gold covers. A very worthy...

    Thinking on a different setup, '61 X-175

This lovely blond X-175 came to me (thank you Zizala!!) with the stock Bigsby and bridge replaced by a period correct rosewood bridge and harp tailpiece. The stock Bigsby items came with the guitar. I've been playing it that way, string with .050 - .012 strings, wound G. Mostly using the neck...

Stepping up to a vintage X-175

Loving my '61 X-50 as I do, the next Franz equipped Guild archtop for me has seemed increasingly likely. I'd looked at a couple old X-175s, none of which really spoke to me, and have been looking for CE-100s also. Got talking with Zizala about possible sales, realized a couple fine old Guilds...

Getting back to the NS X-350 ...

I keep playing Walter's short video with this red guitar. Can't find one locally to try. Very curious about it, how it plays and sounds. Does anyone here have one? Any comments??

Finally got my hands on a Newark St. Aristocrat

One of those guitars I've wanted to try for a long time. Went to look at an X-170 years ago, guy had one of the first M-75s too. And it was the little guitar that impressed me. Found one nearby last year but it wasn't that playable ... tall, blocky frets. Just traded guitars with another local...

    MV on the X-175

I've seen 70s X-175s both with and without. Anyone know what year the MV started on that model? Thanks. MD

Curious about a few archtop Guilds ... some trade ideas

Just a thought here. I've got two quite wonderful amps here, not getting used near enough. - Sterling tweed bassman: a very well built, hand-wired amp, in the Victoria and Clark quality zone, NOS tubes - Pure 64 Mean streets classic head/cab: One of the best sounding 2x6v6 amps I've come...

Looking for a gig bag for 17" thinline

My dearmond T400 is the same dimensions (I think) as the old Guild DE400 it is an homage too. I have it in an excellent semi rigid bag, which is pretty bulky. Need a slimmer alternative for certain situations. Does anybody here know who produces a suitable gig bag for that guitar? Thanks. MD

    NGD X-50 and a shoutout

The X-50 is a 1961, I'm told, the very one being played here by Anton V. (NYWolf on LTG) Backstory: I met Anton in 2015, bought his Newark St. X175B when I started jazz lessons. Liked him, liked his playing. Late last year I got real curious about X-50 Guilds with Franz p/us. Had seen one in...

    70's x-175 question

I'm looking at a few older guilds, one a late 70s x-175. I've read here that this model came with maple and mahogany necks at different times. Any of you folks played both types, and could comment on the differences, tonally? Regarding p/us. I'm assuming late 70s would be the full size HB-1...

Interested in this '60s metal covered p/u in an X-50

Hey all. Was checking out X-50s, expected to see many with Franz p/us. And did. Saw this clip too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4Rm3fJNlWg Here it's a 60s model, called the Cordoba x-50 I'm quessing. Hadn't heard this p/u before. It does sound good. According to Han's book, this particular...

A newark street X-175B, or is it?

Hey all. Just picked up a used Guild today. Advertised as an X-175B. The owner had modded it, not caring much for the Franz repros. He took off the Bigsby, used a trapeze tailpiece. Swapped in an excellent bridge, forget the model, swapped in SD 59 humbuckers, also replacing the pots. All of...

    NS Guild X-175 nut width

I've seen a couple different specs for this. The Guild site says 43mm. Certain retailers (Sweetwater, for example) say 1.650 inch (42 mm). Those of you who own the NS 175, what is the actual nut width? Thanks. MD
