Earworms.

Like this (and with apologies for what I am about to do):

I knew one of the guys who was in that band for a bit, Chuck Trois.
He was also in the Soul Survivors, the National Bank and the Amazing Maze.
Philly, late 60s.

"It's A Small World After All" after visiting Disneyland in Florida in 1980.

Just as a heads up I am going to close this when the song I consider the ultimate earworm gets posted. As a hint it premiered at the 1964 World's Fair and

They didn't consult with me.

:)

This little number should require a license and informed consent waivers before playing.

But it doesn't, so here goes:

I absolutely KNEW that song was queued up next on your playlist! Suspended for TWO weeks from the LTG Forum. :ROFLMAO:

What's next A Horse With No Name? :p

If you want to switch earworms research the connections between Starland Vocal Band and John Denver and, IIRC, Eva Cassidy.

This thread is for when a song gets stuck in your head. Let us know what it is and maybe it can get stuck in our heads, too. 😉

Here's my current one, over and over since Thursday, just one verse.

A gathering of angels
Appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope
And this is what they said, they said
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me.

Etc., etc. Again and again. ⛵

Nice! I've been on a Yacht Rock kick for a while now... I've got a Spotify playlist full of nuggets like that.

This one haunts me often when my mind drifts

Here is a nice compendium of earworm research. WARNING: This link contains a list of the 9 top earworms from 3,000-participant study. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

In a predictable fashion I will say that I have either not heard most of the earworms listed or I do not recognize the title or performer.

Or the connections between Starland Vocal Band, The Slickee Boys and Root Boy Slim & the Sex Change Band.

Pretty cool. I didn't know that Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert co-wrote Take Me Home, Country Roads with John Denver. That's an impressive writing credit. They also sang back-up vocals on the album Spirit (1976) and toured with John Denver. Bill Danoff earns extra credit for playing a Guild.

I enjoy Michael Chapdelaine's cover of the Gotye song in that "earworms" list:
