Nice guitar. Surprisingly light. I'm used to a Starfire IV with the center block, and my X-170 which is thicker. This thing weighs nothing compared to them!

Super nice action on the Guildsby, which has made me realize that my X-170 needs something - maybe a new spring?

Guy had the action set super high for some reason. Neck is straight and true, and I lowered the bridge considerably with no buzzing. He said he mostly played finger style.

Electronics are perfect. There are some light scuffs near the bridge where it's obviously slid around, but otherwise looks mint.

The color is very hard to capture. None of these look like the guitar to me. I'll grab some pics in my psuedo-studio later tonight.

Very nice guitar GAD! I have been considering picking up a reissue SF3. Is that a maple body? Also your guitar looks pretty thin. What is the thickness?

I'll measure it later. It's exactly the same thickness as my '99 SF4.

The entire guitar is mahogany, which is what interested me. It's definately got a mellower sound than my maple Guilds.

The guitar is 1.95 inches thick at the edge.

Edit - my 600th post! :)

Working on more pics. I'm not happy with any of them yet.

The camera I use (Canon 1DsM2) is known to have issues with red. The direct sunlight especially makes it really pop. I brought it in and took pics indoors, but the finish is so glossy that all you see is reflections of every thing in the room. Last night I had the revelation that I could use a polarizer to get rid of the reflections. In my test shots it seems to be working. Long story short - new pics are coming. :)

Re: Pics of the new Redhead SFIII

This pic actually gives a fair representation of what the guitar looks like indoors:

The grain comes and goes depending on the angle and the light. At quick glance the guitar is just red.

How could you not be happy with those pics. They are stunning. But I'm with you on having trouble shooting guitars. I try different light, backgrounds, etc., and while I like some shots, I know I can always do better.

That said, I don't know how you can do better, because that guitar is beautiful in every shot you've showed up.

I'm confused. Is this a NEW guitar or an OLD guitar? I mean, is it a reissue? I missed this info somewhere...

It is a 1998 reissue model of the Starfire III.

If this was a 70's model in this condition, I'd be a LOT more excited. :)
