Still working on 'one wot I wrote' some years ago. Used to play it in Em capo up 5 - didn't sound right, tto plinky on 5 and too low for my voice range. As the Guild is so much easier to play Fs on than the Epiphone I've shifted it to starting in Am, C G F - but capo 2 - just right for voice range, tone sounds right but still working on the chord progression. Its called 'How high is the sky?'. If I ever get a CD recorded I'll try and make it accessible here - but I suppose that involves upliading to U Tube?

I started working on Crazy Love, by Poco, last night. This is going to take some time.

However I really like the guitar in it. I went looking on YouTube for a video.

This is a 2004 reunion performance so it's a bit different and the guitar doesn't come quite through as it does on the recording that I have.

Anyway, closer attention reveals that Rusty Young is picking at a gorgeous, burst, Guild 12 string. :D

I almost have the first two bars done.

"The Shadow of Your :D " ... my teacher wrote out a really cool arrangement. The day he did it I brought the new Bluesbird to my lesson, sounded great (when he played it), but he told me that he had the X-175 inmind when he gave it to me... got it home and he was right!

Graham, Nice post... I just pulled down the tabs. Are you practicing c/Fmaj7/G etc.? Maybe a group Arlington tune?

Actually that's the thing that I think is the coolest - video enabling my fellow LTGers to show their prodigious Chops. think of all those performances in the bathroom instead of in front of a crowd - now they won't go to waste!

That's it, it's a tough one for me finger pickin' and all, but a real good guitar song.

I've just started working on an oldie - S & Gs 'Sound of Silence'. Not only do I love the song, but always useful when you ask if there are any requests - and some wise-ass says 'yeah - sound of silence please'

Hadn't planned to, but happened into some bits that reminded me of "You Can Love Yourself" (Keb Mo), so I've started trying to piece it all together. Lots of fun!

Lyle Lovett's "Private Conversation". It's only three chords but the lyrics must be in order and correct for the story to make sense. Did it last Tuesday at open mic. No tomatoes,so I guess it was acceptable.

Keb' Mo' "Closer".

Oh.......I dunno. I play some 20 to 30 songs per evening. Some I do over and over until My feeble mind absorbs it!

But now that Graham has mentioned it, I D/L'd the Poco tune, and yeah! I remember playing that before, but I must've forgot it like soooo many other things!

So I was waiting at the bus stop, and in the paper today, was a tale of Crowded House getting back together. Man, that band brings back memories. So I went home and whipped this one up, nothing too fancy, enjoy!

Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House!

It's a really good guitar tune, IMO.

Great job yet again Jahn.

Funny I'm always on the listen now for something different to try. That particular one is above me, but I'm always on the lookout.

Just got through "I've Always Loved You" by Third Day last night. Will polish it up a bit over the next couple of days. (yea, perfecting is a strong word) I'm happy if it just kinda sounds like the original artist and someone can recognize it as such! ;-)

Amen here as well. I strive NOT to sound too much like the original.
A signature lick is one thing of course, its entirly another to mimick like a parrot. Individuale style is the key! If I want to listen to S & G, I will listen to S & G...but I am much more intrested in an individuale's take
on the same classic. How YOU feel, and how YOU inflect upon a given phrase. There are masters of imitation, BUT, there are NO masters of interpitation!!....just a few words of wit from Larry's book of,...er...well,
would rhyme with wit
