I've heard the best offense is a good defense, and that good fences make good neighbors, but I'm on de fence 'bout 'dat.West R Lee said:No offense! :lol:TonyT said:I'm offended that Jim offended me by choosing not to offend someone else and then smileie facing his own post that he deleted except for the smilie face.

Bill Ashton said:Power just back on this morning, about 6 AM. Lost a beautiful red maple in the front of our house, whole thing will have to come down. She almost took my power service, but I was able to just clip that bit off yesterday...while the power grid was down, of course.
I spent the past week at a forest fire school in mid Long Island...closed early Saturday due to the storm...we had a good bit of rain and some wind, but nothing earth shattering...expected the next morning to find our cars covered with snow...not! Drive east to Orient Point ferry was unremarkable, looked like it had rained the night before. Was about a mile outside (north) of New London before even saw snow on the ground. Nothing that imprssive up the I-395 corridor until I crossed the Mass. line, and then trees were bending over. Worst was just south of Worcester, MA. Then really nothing up I-190 to home...when I got off the highway though, whoa! Things around here are looking like the ice storm of December 2008.
Snow accumulation? People are saying 15" and I haven't seen it. 6" to 8" I would gather, but really wet and heavy, snow blower just barely would move it. Today's work, sadly, will be to make the red maple safe...will throw up some images later.
We were lucky, this is our only damage, sadly we lost a tree we planted in 1999 (which was good size then...)

Don't blame Jim. I moderated him and, all things considered, he's been a good sport about it.
Sounds a lot like heaven to me.Frosty said:Burning wood in the fireplace

The night sky on Sunday was fabulous!
Clear skies, no light pollution and a crescent moon.
Pinpoint stars against the black sky.
Dinner by candlelight and evenings by the fire.
I still wonder why you use green to moderate when usually a moderation is to slow things down?TonyT said:Now I'm offended because Jim gets moderated and I never do. Apparently "dumb" is not against the rules.
Edited: Because I don't want anyone to feel left out.

There, is it my turn yet?
It's pretty hairy here, Jim. Lots of power still out around Massachusetts and the tree damage is remarkable in many areas. The big power companies are getting their teeth kicked in by consumers.West R Lee said:adorshki said:I still wonder why you use green to moderate when usually a moderation is to slow things down?TonyT said:Now I'm offended because Jim gets moderated and I never do. Al....you and Tony, can we please keep things on topic here!
How are you Yanks holding up? Power is still out in some places I hear? You guys can come stay a week or so here until they get power back on line. I've got guitars for 8.
Oh, and Tony, congratulations on the moderation.......it's a big step. Now I don't feel so alone.

Thanks for inquiring about service for your Hamer USA or Ovation USA guitar. I'm out of the office but I expect to return as soon as power is restored to Northwest Connecticut.
They can't, the flume is filled with lacquer!fronobulax said:I guess the factory doesn't use water power as a backup
