Here in southern CT, we had only a few inches at most, with only modest numbers of power outages. In a large part of the state, however, they had a lot more, up to 20" in some places, and overall there are 700,000 customers without power, about half the state, but only about 10% in our town and less in shoreline areas (we're a couple miles inland). Temperatures are generally above freezing now, so the icy road conditions should be changing soon, although will probably refreeze tonight. Probably won't hear from anybody in the affected areas until power comes back. With gusts up to 30MPH, it will be a while as the utilities won't let workers into the buckets until the wind is under 20, although I don't know if that is steady or includes gusts.

I talked to my friend last night in West Virginia and they got 7" of snow near Elkins. Of course, here in Las Vegas it got down to 54 degrees. It'll be up to 82 this afternoon and sunny and bright. 8) Enjoy your snow everybody!!

Here in northeast CT we only had about 6" of snow. We lost power about 11:30 Saturday night...reports say 33% of my town has no power, but there are no lines down that can see. It's getting cold in the house...I have electric heat.

In MA, we got about 6" of snow, heavy and wet, so I lost some branches. The problem is the tress still have most of their leaves, so the snow really weighed them down.

But, its New England, nothing surprises me any more...

Mark Twain supposedly once said he enjoyed living in New England because we had all four seasons, sometimes in one day.

Good thing you're back home, Pascal. Snow around here when there's still leaves on the trees is pretty much unheard of, though.

Power just back on this morning, about 6 AM. Lost a beautiful red maple in the front of our house, whole thing will have to come down. She almost took my power service, but I was able to just clip that bit off yesterday...while the power grid was down, of course.

I spent the past week at a forest fire school in mid Long Island...closed early Saturday due to the storm...we had a good bit of rain and some wind, but nothing earth shattering...expected the next morning to find our cars covered with snow...not! Drive east to Orient Point ferry was unremarkable, looked like it had rained the night before. Was about a mile outside (north) of New London before even saw snow on the ground. Nothing that imprssive up the I-395 corridor until I crossed the Mass. line, and then trees were bending over. Worst was just south of Worcester, MA. Then really nothing up I-190 to home...when I got off the highway though, whoa! Things around here are looking like the ice storm of December 2008.

Snow accumulation? People are saying 15" and I haven't seen it. 6" to 8" I would gather, but really wet and heavy, snow blower just barely would move it. Today's work, sadly, will be to make the red maple safe...will throw up some images later.

We were lucky, this is our only damage, sadly we lost a tree we planted in 1999 (which was good size then...)

Only about 3 inches of snow accumulated (an additional couple inches probably melted). But, roughly half of our town is without power. And given NationalGrid's lame response after tropical storm Irene (six days to effect a one-hour repair), it'll likely be about a week before it is restored.

A portable generator is keeping our furnace running, along with the fridge & a few lamps. Good thing, with temps last night in the 20's. Loaned another little generator to our favorite next-door-neighbors.

NationalGrid has replaced Comcast as my all-time least-favorite utility company.
