Inmoderate or intolerant?

Should any LTG thread that mentions another forum more than twice be closed and locked?

PS. IMmoderate ?

Well, I am just so giddy to have LTG back that I can't spell, can't copy and paste, can't type and can't figure out how to make a post that drips with sarcasm, irony and humor. But in this case I'll admit I typed what I intended and I really did think inmoderate was a word. Thank you.

Well, dammit, frono... if it isn't, it should be! :)

And, FWIW, I thought it was pretty cute.

That said, I remember a few years back a bunch of people bitching about the UMGF forum (on the AGF, that is). Problems with accounts, management, etc. Maybe AGF decided then not to tolerate posts about other forums.... good, bad, or ugly.

Anyway, I'm feeling rather inmoderate today, and I intend to exercise tons of gravitas.

I've been a member of AGF for quite awhile but rarely go there. Only when LTG was down did I go there to see if there was any news.

I've always found AGF to be a bit too cluttered for my taste. Too many members a bit self-righteous and nasty; all too often hard to ignore or even bother to deal with. It's a dysfunctional, condescending online family at times, and my family is all the dysfunction I need. Claiming to be an "acoustic guitar" forum, it's Larrivee or some custom to-expensive-for-the average-guy-guitar that seems to take center stage.

LTG is a Guild forum and we know that going in. While some may jokingly apologize for mentioning a Gibson, many of us own one and there's no harm in discussing that and other guitars.

LTG is a classroom with eager teachers. Not so AGF IMHO. Criticism here, if any, is always constructive and encouraged. I just like it here damnit!!!

Peace

Since our members who are vocal about it seem to be extremely pleased with the tenor of our Forum and, to further differentiate ourselves from the pleb's who habituate "those other forums", I suggest that the moderators declare a day of their choice to be LTG Silly Day.

Naturally, I wont be participating.

2 Cents Worth: I just joined LTG, but I have participated actively on AGF for years. I have never seen anything but positive and appreciative mention of LTG on AGF, and in fact reading about Guild guitars on AGF is what let to buy one and join here.

That is great to hear. I have spent some time there, more time on UMGF (somewhat of a regular there as well, but don't tell the folks here as they hate Big Brother  ). I tried both of those forums after spending a decent amount of time on LTG. I can honestly say that spending time on LTG will ruin you for all other forums. Others are nice and you do begin to build up report with the regulars there, but the shear tom-foolery that goes on here is like no other I have experienced. As a regular member here, I can see the bits of sillyness within this thread, but as a new member, you may view this as a feeding frenzy to bash others on another forum. If that is the case, please dismiss this thread as an example as to what LTG really is.

We may not have class, some may fart in public, others may find sheep somewhat attractive, but we do love our new members and welcome them with open arms...even if our armpits stink.

Fun and serious, Bill. We share passion about our love for these instruments and their history. Sometimes we get on each other, but mostly we get along pretty well!

Nice testimonies in this thread, folks! I'm really happy to hear that so many of you feel this way about our little soiree here. :)

Actually, It's the only forum I come too, Don't feel the need for another.

Arbitrary rules on the internet are silly. Voted for "You're kidding, right?"
