To Everyone who has shared their guitar rooms, guitars (and other cool instruments and equipment), homes, scenic views, and your great stories, thanks! It's been a fun day getting to see all that you've shared. Much appreciated. :::::grateful smile:::::

@ Chamzo/ladytexan/bluespicky: our house is located on a peninsula formed by the Intracoastal Waterway to the east and dredged out canals in what used to be Frenchman's Creek (Pascal's creek  ). The houses opposite us back up to the Intracoastal:
casajuan02.jpg

Our house viewed from across the canal to the west looking back east. Some time ago, there was a screen porch in the back that's now fully enclosed; that's where the guitars and amps live. The oak tree to the left/north of the house ... that's the tree in my avatar:
casajuan.jpg

This is the oak tree in my avatar seen from the street-side ... maybe 75 years old:

Not the horticulturalist that Hideglue is and I can't take pics like Joe ... but just to let Coastie know that we're very good in the chlorophyll department too .... Mrs. Juan's orchid at the base of the oak tree with the staghorn fern and Christmas cactus which all do nicely despite our benign neglect:

Finally, this is a link to the Jupiter Inlet Webcam. If you go straight out the inlet and keep going for a few miles, you get to Morocco. If you get seasick, you can just stand on your tip-toes on the shore ... you can just barely make it out ...

You and Mrs. CJ have a bit of paradise. May it last forever. :D

Thanks Jane; when she and I married, she said she eventually wanted to live near the shore.

It's not ocean-front but the beach is 3 mins by car ... close enough to satisfy her :D

Somehow I missed this, but it sure looks like a beautiful spot Cap'n. I'm more of a mountain and lake than a beach type, but to each his own I guess. Interestingly, my boss just bought a place on Mirasol Golf course not far from you.

Hi Sandy and thank you; it's very pretty and you're right about preferences ... mine was to make her happy.

Mirasol is just a few miles away - new, upscale, and spiffy. They played the Honda Classic there for a couple of years while the Champ across the street at PGA was renovated.

Whatever he paid, he got a deal. Mirasol opened and sold out at the top of the market ... just before the implosion in RE values down here. The market now is full of short-sales, strategic walkaways, and upside-down owners.

As I mentioned to Walrus, there's a lot not to like about FL.

I think he did get it for a great price (relatively speaking), and it was apparently the model home so it had a lot of upgrades. He's already taken Donald Trump for some money out on the course, and also won the Trump Cup with his buddy. Golf's not my thing either; I find it to be the most humiliating pursuit there is. I'd rather be humiliated by my guitar playing.

Agreed. I went to Florida once, in 1989. At the time I had a really hot girlfriend (this is before I met Mrs. Two), and she worked at Gulfstream Park in the winter. I figured the first week of March should have near-perfect weather, and it also corresponded with when I get sick of winter here in NY, so that's when I went. Well it was 50º, mostly raining, and RAW for the first five days I was down there, and Hallandale ain't exactly the nicest place either. I was freezing most of the time and swore I'd never go back, especially after the drive through Opa Locka on the way to Hialeah.

Good thing we were indoors a lot.

@ Sandy: golf; unless somebody has the time to devote to it, it never gets to be much fun because of the long, flat learning curve. The Rec Dept can teach you to pitty-pat a tennis ball back and forth pretty quick; golf just isn't same ... at least not for adults.

Hallendale / Hallendale Beach: not the nicest neck of the woods; in the '50s and '60s, Hallendale Beach was the winter home of a fair number of gangsters. In recent years, all the low-rise generic 50's 'Holiday Inn'-style architecture has been replaced with high-rises. Depending on your point of view, not necessarily a first down.

@Wuzzatronics Sound Labs NZ: you can clean your whitewalls with Mirasol but not brush your teeth. It will remove Vegemite stains from clothing though when added to your wash.

Lynda and I bought and refurbished a small 2 bedroom cottage. Plenty of room for just two of us !

Then, I started buying guitars and then, amplifiers. Not much later, I decided to start building amps.

Not much room left in the spare bedroom !!

I'm surprised none of you 'guys' noticed Coastie's nifty 'parts drawer' holder.

Things have changed a bit since I posted pics of our new "sitting room"......

The new shot of the same corner

Upon entering this small 10 x 10 room you see:

And here, in front of the sliding doors that overlooks my back 40, is where I play.

And then a quick glance around the room:

On the guitar stand is my D15M. By the door is my D25. The others on the wall are: Gibson J40; Gibson Hummingbird Artist; and 60's era Ventura.

If I'm late for thursday night pickin' and someone asks where I am, my friend Walt always responds, "He'll be here. He's just trying to decide what hat to wear". :) I do have quite a few of 'em.

Peace

I don't know about horticulturalist, but I do know I want to climb that majestic oak! Tell me you already have.
Gorgeous place all around, capn.

I'm a little late to the party and a little new to the forum, but here's mine. We weren't using the living room anyway, so we bought some overstuffed armless chairs and set up a little pickin' parlor.

My LP collection is in there along with my turntable as well.

The hand drums have been moved to make way for a few more strings, including a '71 F212!

I like it; especially the LR Baggs under-saddle. Plugged in it gets a great deal of praise from listeners. It's bright and crisp unplugged and projects very well. It tells me where my voice should be.

I was unhappy at first. It really was a disappointment. I don't believe Musicians Friend stocks/receives the quality it should and I went through Gibson directly and they replaced the original guitar. When I sent the original guitar to Gibson (Musicians Friend wouldn't take it back without an enormous fee) I told them, "I don't care what you do at this point. I'm totally frustrated and p.o.'d. Fix it or replace it. Just admit it's a piece of crap". LOL

When they received the guitar I got an email telling me, "We can fix this piece of crap [/b]but we're going to send you a new one". After all the complaints I had heard about Gibson tec services I was truly amazed. The new guitar (hanging on the wall) is great. I wouldn't trade my Guild DM15 for one but I do like it.

Peace
