Uh-oh, sounds like someone used the Systematic Buzz Phrase Generator.

Acronym Finder Random Systematic Buzz Phrase Projector
Acronym Generator (AFRSBPPAG)

In 1968, Newsweek magazine published a short, but humorous article, How to Win at Wordsmanship. It described the "Systematic Buzz Phrase Projector," a concept developed by Philip Broughton, a (then) 63 year old worker in the US Public Health Service. He must have had a delightful sense of humor.

We here at the Acronym Finder have implemented Broughton's Systematic Buzz Phrase Projector (SBPP if you like) as a fun way of not only randomly generating his buzz phrases, but also (what else?), the corresponding acronyms and abbreviations they form.

Broughton's system uses this three-column list of 30 cleverly chosen buzzwords.

0. integrated 0. management 0. options
1. total 1. organizational 1. flexibility
2. systematized 2. monitored 2. capability
3. parallel 3. reciprocal 3. mobility
4. functional 4. digital 4. programming
5. responsive 5. logistical 5. concept
6. optional 6. transitional 6. time-phase
7. synchronized 7. incremental 7. projection
8. compatible 8. third-generation 8. hardware
9. balanced 9. policy 9. contingency

To use the SBPP, just make up a 3 digit number and then choose the numbered buzzword from each column. So, if you chose 031, you would get Integrated Reciprocal Flexibility (IRF). Try it for yourself.

The idea was to drop these random buzz phrase nuggets into conversation or technical reports. Broughton said "No one will have the remotest idea of what you are talking about, but the important thing is that they're not about to admit it."

Even after 40 years, they still sound amazingly jargon-like, don't they? Enjoy!

You took the words right out of my mouth Dread.

Hey! Whats wrong with the Nutmeg State?

Nothing at all!! I grew up there, still get to go back from time to time. Let's hope it's as good for Guild and Tacoma as it was for me!

I'm in a state of twin-fusion......the "Wash-Conn Pheonominum".....its like the Twilight Zone, only better......this one is in HD living color! It the "Burned Identity" Movie of the year evolved into the "Burned Supreme-icy" of a country-wide shift in facilities in the middle of a Winter. The plot is still evolving. The lead character is a Fender. I don't think its Freddie's, but the rest of the car got lost somewhere in CA awhile back. I'm graduating from Shock State U. anytime now......my doctor says that if I keep on improving as I have, he will let me out on week-ends to the real world more often. Maybe then I can go to Euphoric State U. to become a master at playing Guitar Builder Checkers.

I once dated a woman who went to Beaver College ... an all-women's school.

Hi West,

Wouldn't that be kewl - though not so sure the idea of a group of us 'old buds' carpooling is in anyones best interest.
Anyway, its less than an hour away - in fact some of the guys did go to Hamer after the Westerly closing.
