I know Bobby Simms of the Rotary Connection received a 6 string and a 12 string from Guild back in 67 or 68. Thats the first time I played a Guild and have loved them since. Ralph

And look Chicagowineguy, it's Brian Adams from This LTG Thread from some time ago.
That's Ryan Adams without the B! Although the other guy wrote some nice pop songs...

If you're curious about the G-shield, click the 1972 D-25 restoration link in my sig.

Somebdoy forgot to mention that Brian May started to use a 412 from 2005 as alternative to his old Ovation Pacemaker:

Back home,now...that sunburst guitar photo is on page 133 of Hans' book, and captioned "Tim Buckley with a Late '60s F-212XL". Thought it looked familiar.

Hi Graham; if we get an LTG-Wiki established, this thread will probably get edited as the baseline for a 'Guild Artists' article with added information, pics, YouTube links whatever. In the meantime, I've been copying the most recent 'sightings' and shoveling them sideways from the new 'Artist' thread to this one so, in the event of a new/dupe sighting, at least one of these parallel threads will be reasonably complete. Otherwise, if somebody wants to write this up and they 'call' for Guild sightings, the wheel is going to get re-invented ... again. J

In this morning's paper was a photo of one of the bands playing later this month at the Northwest Washington Fair. The name of the band is Emerson Drive and they're apparently from Alberta. Quite noticeable up front and in the hands of one of the band members is a beauty of a D-55 (me thinks).

This is the first I've heard of this band, but there's at least one good guitar in the bunch.

I just LOVE these guitars... too bad they're so darn expensive! Anyone here have one w/P90's like this?

Hi David; all the web browsers support multiple windows so you can have LTG open in two different windows. I had this old 'Artists' thread running in one window and LTG's Tim Buckley: Custom 512? thread in the other window - the source of your original post. By clicking 'Quote' in connection with your old post, the editing window opens and provides the text of your post which I copied out, pasted into the open 'Draft' window in this thread, and closed the other window without posting anything new.

But sadly, it's pretty clear you spend much too much time playing and enjoying your 12ers instead of wasting it working on BB software skills ... Best wishes; John

We can add Mark Spoelstra to the list, I remember him as a 12 stringer from the early 60s who used a Guild on occasion. He certainly had one in his later years.

Have a good related story. One day in 1962 I suggested to a friend that we go to Gerde's Folk City that evening to hear three young performers a little bit older than us that I had heard several times before. It was an off night, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. First up was Mark Spoelstra, second was Phil Ochs who was really my favorite, and the third was from Minnesota named Bob something or other (I wonder what ever happened to him!). There was a grand total of 6 people in the audience that night. me and my friend, a couple and a businessman (suit, tie etc. not the usual crowd) with a hooker. Never did figure out how the latter two wound up there, although Gerde's was a bar and they were drinking a lot more than us poor students. I also vaguely remembering on talking to them that he was interested in country music. Takes all kinds I suppose, though it wasn't exactly Hank on stage. There was no tip jar, and I can't remember a cover, so I suspect Gerde's didn't make much that night.

Gone, perhaps, but never forgotten.
I had the pleasure of being up-close and personal with the Golden Voice of the Great Southwest three times and his songs have long been a big part of my own travelin' bag.
He sang great songs and told great stories. Who could forget Moose Turd Pie? He filled a room, no matter the size! :D
