I got a message on Reverb asking whether my NS Aristocrat had a floating or pinned bridge. Did the NS M-75s ever come with a floating bridge as standard? He seemed to remember having an early one (2013) that did. Anyone able to confirm or deny?

I thought they were all floating -- do they not have the Valco-style floating posts?

I mean, what's there to "pin," if there's no bridge base?

I unstrung mine and, sure enough, it is floating! I’d read the specs on Guild’s website which highlight that it’s a pinned bridge.

Good luck with your sale, BTW. I wish I had the extra coin, but all I've got is other guitars.

I have not looked at one but in theory the factory could drill two small holes in the feet (I mean they could order them that way) and put two pins in the wooden top at the right position and your bridge is "pinned". Would make sense for the "normal" buyer. So we need a member who has a newer one to check at next string change!

Chris, is the bridge on the one you're selling pinned?
Turns out, no. Looks exactly like the pinned one in Guild’s pic which is what threw me off. I wonder if they felt the need to add pins to deal with people not knowing how to deal with a floating bridge.

It depends on the model. The goldtop has a floating bridge standing on the metal "cups". The black one has little pins underneath the cups.

I'm absolutely certain. I had a bigsby installed on my black one. This pushes the bridge forward and makes it tilt very slightly. I can see the pins going into the top. .

This has left me totally confused. In my thread about my '69 Bluesbird M-75,

I've been trying to get the bridge squared away and bought what I assumed to be the correct assembly from guild (see pic in other thread).
Now it looks like Guild has sent out new M-75's with both pinned and unpinned supports.

Well, not at the same time... The early models from 2013 onwards obviously had unpinned bridges and later on that was changed as it sounds. And I guess the reason is that a lot of younger players never ever set up a floating archtop bridge regarding intonation. The pins will certainly help to keep the guitar in tune.

So are those newer feet just the same as the floating ones with a hole drilled in the bottom? (Such that they'd be usable on a floating bridge Aristocrat?)

Okay, now I don't feel so crazy about my post in the aforementioned thread. I could have sworn that there were Aristocrats with pinned bridges. I'm not worried about being wrong. I'm mostly concerned about losing my mind o_O . . . and giving incorrect advice, of course.

That's a question I cannot answer, we need somebody like guitarlover or anybodyelse with a new M-75 Aristocrat to take pictures of the pins in the top and the bottom of the feet the next time they change strings!

From "outside" they look the same . However I once saw a pinned bridge aristocrat with the bridge taken off and the pins are not rising from the top of the guitar. There are just two little holes in the top. The cups themselves have pins on them instead ( or maybe the "heightscrews" from the bridge).

On my 2015 M75 the two feet/base don't move at all. They are secured to the top and I can't tell what is holding them in place. They might be screwed into the top but I am not going to disturb them to find out.
