It's been awhile since i've posted anything on here. But I had my "Let's Talk Guild" t-shirt on the other day and remember how great of a forum this is, so I'm back. I see some familiar usernames and now I feel at home.

Another Guild fan for Foghorn Leghorn. (Daffy's a close second.)

Though the guitar-wielding El Kabong might be more apropos for this group.

Glenn//.

Foghorn Leghorn's best performance was convincing Henery Hawk that the barnyard dog was really a chicken. "It's a joke son it's a joke". He's my all time favorite. However, I do have Betty Boop floor mats in my car.

Welcome back, AB! It has been a while.

Elmer Fudd is still the man for me and truth be told, I do a mean rendition of Elmer singing Give My Wove to Wose.

*In reading back through these posts, I still don't understand why some folks listed comic strip characters instead of cartoon characters, but it's yet another one of many things I don't understand, so....

Cheers,
Joe

When Looney Tunes is on, which isn't very often now, (There's this "modern" version of those characters, but it's not Mel Blanc doing the voices.), I'm hoping Foghorn and the hound dog will be one of them shown. Sam and Ralph too.

Great to be back Killdeer, you too Default!! Looking forward to getting back in the groove with Ya! I've been gigging a bit here and there. Not the same guys, not the same. Can't put a finger on it, maybe the fact that I'm 60 in 2 months and my friends are home watching Lawrence Welk like our folks did. But the young'ums have been really receptive to the classic rock I'm putting out to them. Comments like, "we love the music from your younger days" and such. I was busy with a band for a while, electric classic rock, Skynyrd, Cream and even Norman Greenbaum. Great to be back. I have my Let's Talk Guild still hanging on my wall and my trusty lefty D-40 sittin' nearby in the stand.

Towelie. Despite Cartman's proclamation "you're the worst character ever", he's actually the BEST! I have no idea what's going on....

Am I really the only one who remembers the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and Fat Freddie's Cat??

Those were underground "adult" comics from back in the hippie daze.

Well...I thought I saw them moving around, but it was kind of hard to tell.

You make a distinction that is perhaps uniquely yours? Animated shows shown on Saturday mornings were always Cartoons, but so were the things in the newspaper. Specifically the collection was "the Cartoons" or "The Funnies" or "The Comics". Something that had one panel was always "a cartoon" but multiple panels could be "a cartoon" or "a comic strip". "A comic book" may have contained "cartoons" but never "comic strips". And some characters that appeared in one medium eventually made their ways into others. And that's just one small portion of New York State in the 1950's and 60's.

I found them very disturbing since my definition of "comic", "comic book" or "cartoon" did not have room for material not suitable for children. Now that we have the term "graphic novel" I feel much better calling Crumb's work "graphic novels" than "comics". But that's my neurosis.

By all means include a comic strip character(s).......Snoopy when he was "Joe Motocross" I raced for 15 years until I crushed my left foot. So out from the bed the guitar came and back to making music. A lot safer!!! I painted Snoopy on my white Bell Moto 4 helmet.

I have no preference what is included in this thread but I do not think the distinction between comic strips and animated "cartoons" is "uniquely" 12strings"s. I share his distinction. When the thread started, I was only thinking of animation as cartoons. The newspaper comic strips were "the comics" or the "funny papers". Comic books were "comics" but not cartoons.

Actually, the distinction is not mine. Others had already referenced animation, comic strips, stills, whatever. It was all good as far as I'm concerned.
