I have no preference what is included in this thread but I do not think the distinction between comic strips and animated "cartoons" is "uniquely" 12strings"s. I share his distinction. When the thread started, I was only thinking of animation as cartoons. The newspaper comic strips were "the comics" or the "funny papers". Comic books were "comics" but not cartoons.
I was the culprit with the unique distinction, and it appears that I wasn't alone in my uniqueness. :triumphant:

Thanks,
Joe

I found them very disturbing since my definition of "comic", "comic book" or "cartoon" did not have room for material not suitable for children. Now that we have the term "graphic novel" I feel much better calling Crumb's work "graphic novels" than "comics". But that's my neurosis.
Crumb wasn't nearly as "graphic" as some of those other contributors to Zap! Comix..... :biggrin-new:

As for cartoons and cartoon series....

Futurama and "Pinky and the Brain". Are both pretty good. Plenty of jokes for the adults watching, if you pay attention. I don't know if I have a favorite character of the bunch. Of the more classic cartoons, I always liked Goofy in the " How to..." cartoons. as to the Looney Tunes cartoons, I think I had favorite ones more than one character. I liked the Bugs and Elmer one where they did a Wagner-esc one to music. " I have my sword and Magic helmet ! "

One that has grown on me, not that I seek it out, but saw it at a relatives house while their little kids were in charge of the TV is " Fineas and Furb ". Here is a link to some youtube clips of the shows villain talking about modern internet stuff...

I always, and still do, laugh my arse off at the Merry Melodies dancing vegetables. Just too funny.

Peace

Yes. I stand corrected. The remainder of my comments, however, well, remain .
