Excellent, Treem. Thanks for posting the pictures. A little "mojo" on this beastie, but really terrific I'm sure now that you've got it playable!

Made to be played. Amen.

My DV52 is strug up with a brand new set, wrapped, and under the Christmas tree. Even if it wasn't wrapped up I have been working 12 hour days without a day off for the last 2 weeks so I wouldn't have had time to play it anyway.

I'm looking forward to Christmas (my first day off in 2 weeks). I will get to relax, spend some time with the family, and play my DV52.

I agree with drednut...the DV52 blows away all of the high end guitars I played at guitar center. The one I have , to my ears, sounds better than the Gibson advanced jumbo and Martin D-28 that I played. That kind of shocked me because I was expecting those 2 guitars to sound better...especially the D-28.

My DV52 is prestine and I'm almost scared to touch it much less play it. I have the "fear Of the first ding" blues.

I guess I need to go ahead and ding it to get it over with and be done with it.............NOT :)

Congratulations jimistone! You have waited patiently and CHRISTmas is almost here! :D :D :D

I strung my D30 with Martins Marquis 20/80 (the blue ones) and brought it over the parents house and played some Christmas tunes. With both dreadnoughts working. My pops and i are jammin'! It sounds so beautiful! but this D30 TONE is awesomely beautiful but not as deep as the DV52 (Rosewood). But this D30 sure does sound very niiice!! :D  8)

Well, I tried...I tried...

Had a DV-52 on the hook from a seller willing to ship...

Wow, I forgot I had posted in this thread. It seems so long ago!

That was back when I picked up the DCE1, but I sold it and picked up the D35 which I dig.

However - I did get to try out a DV52 tonight and, well, I may have to get me one of those! Thumbs up!

Thats a real bummer on the Zanesville deal. If you can find a nice DV-52, it will more than make up for the bad experience.

Has anyone else noticed how Qvart is doing some serious migrating to acoustic? Once there, you won't go back!

I'd believe you if tuning down to C# and cranking the distortion up worked for an acoustic. I tried on the Fonz and my ears were bleeding for a week.

Yeh... The Fonz could be bad for yer health. Probably should dump it. To South Texas maybe where these wide open spaces permit greater distortion...

Yeah, funny!

I've gotten to try out a few lately and get a better idea of what I like. Still don't have much use for an army of acoustics, but I might like to have a second one with different wood/sound. Other rosewood dreads I've tried are too bright, but the Guilds are nice. And that DV52 sounds quite a bit like the D55, but cheaper. So I'll be keeping an eye out. Would make a great bluegrass guitar.

Anyway, I picked up a case from guildzilla, which gave me an opportunity to test drive his Guild collection. He has some damn fine Guilds! I especially liked his '80's M-80, '60's T-100, and DV52. That was also my first chance to strum a Guild 12'er, and I can see why you all dig 'em. Thanks again, Doug!

I enjoyed your visit, Q. It was a lot of fun. Glad to hear you got back to Marietta safe and sound.

A month ago, guys, I found a '93 DV-52 HG locally on craigslist at a bargain price. Lots of fret wear but still plays terrific. I'll have a hard time giving it up.

Oops...sorry...didn't realize that one wasn't in your signature. The secret's out!

Of course, it's got a good bit of wear on it compared to some of the others being shown off around here, but it still sounded great.

Just spent an hour of quality time with my DV-52 :D

I recently played a bunch of acoustic Martins, Gibsons, and Taylors. In my humble opinion, the only guitar that stood up to my DV-52 was an 800 series rosewood Taylor. None of the others, even other rosewood Taylors could produce "that sound".

Many of the others had a nice tone on the top end but the lower end was dead, this seemed pretty common. On my DV-52, the wound strings produce a real piano like tone with ring and sustain. Same with the Taylor 814. Which brings me to my point:

The DV-52 is the best deal going
on a vintage rosewood dreadnaught. They can be had on ebay for US $1,000 or less. Add the deluxe woods, inlays, scalloped bracing, etc, and you're not going to find a comparable guitar for under $2,500-$3,000.

I love the way Guild made liberal use of nice headstock inlays too. The other guys aren't just giving this stuff away, you need to buy one of their high-end guitars in order to get a mother-of-pearl headstock inlay.

Bottom line is, if you can get your hands on a DV-52, grab it. That's my $.02, and I'm stickin' with it!

Catching up with what I missed during the family holiday gathering and little break from LTG, just flew back home last night, and to the opening post of this thread I say: Yes, yes, yes and done (grabbed one) as most of you know who followed my Ebay lucky strike around mid December.
After a 2 weeks separation from my guitars, the DV-52 is the first I picked up, and is now officially declared my favorite dread. It just has it all: Tone, power, sustain and balance.
The closest one I ever played in terms of tone is the Martin HD28 (for a little over 3 times what I paid for my DV-52).
So let me throw $.02 more in the pot, and seconding Dread's advice, get one if you can!
Happy new year to all!!! (I'm sure I missed a "happy new year" thread somewhere...) :D
