Cured it! Done!

Treem, if you snagged that git - good one on ya!

I only wish I had scored that DV-52 in the South Bay area for $600. But I tried. Lord knows I tried. Gets me to the church on time.

Enjoy!

Qbro, I believe it's the same one. A friend of mine got it for me today!

Thank You Jesus!

G-yeah! :D

There were two DV-52's in that area. You got one. I was trying to get the other. It must have sold because I can't find the ad anymore. They said they would ship it to me but when I asked for specific information about the condition they went incommunicado. Alas and alack, I ended up with a sweet DCE1 instead. So it goes, as Herr Vonnegut says.

As Grammy once told me: If you're down to just one sixer, the DV52 is all you'll ever need'...

Welcome to the DV52 fanatics club, Treem!!!

FYI, I wrote a short tale about my journey to see one of the Bay Area craigslist DV-52s, which I link below.
This one was in Sunnyvale and definitely what I would call a 'project' guitar.

Was the person's name Paul? If so, he did let it go for $475.00.

thank you for the heads up.

Hehe.....that's the guy. No wonder he wouldn't answer my questions!

I feel better now.

I didn't see that thread but without the seller responding about it's condition it was a no-brainer.

The DCE1 on the other hand is in very good shape...

Ah yes, it finally landed in hands. Yes, there is 2 binding seperation, with the crazy glue crap on the upper side and slightly lifting on the otherside of the body. The neck is where I have a little worry but I'll see what kind of magic my guitar tech can do with it. It's got a under the saddle pickup and a lot of saddle to shave. Very little fret wear. there is a weird rubbing or wear on the top spruce but I don't mind.

It's got an awesome big sound ready for battle dreadnought tone! Even though the action on the 12th fret is almost 3/8 of an inch. It is satin finish which I was praying for (thank you Lord), since I my JF55 is Glossy! It's got a beautiful inlays around the soundhole!

Overall I am really happy with it!! It's a warrior that would go into battle with any goliath out there!

I will take pictures when it returns from the health spa!

Well it's back from the luthier's shop! I think they did a great job on scrapping off the crazy glue and gluing back the bindings. The action has been lowered and the neck is straight. Sounds is great, full with a cannon like burst...

The total cost for the binding and a set-up is $80.00. Priceless!!!

I owned a DV-52 and it was remarkable... mistake to get rid of it.

I recently came into a JV-52 and it is every bit as stellar. That vintage series contained some special guitars. I'd really love to check out the small jumbo form that era.

I'm not always a fan of rosewood b/s, but these guitars really sing. Guild knows what it is doing with rosewood.

Hey Bob,

Any desire to swap a DV for a JV?

I had a chance on getting my hands on a JV52 but I was out bid by under by $10.00. But then again, I wouldn't had have at chance this!

I considered it a blessing!

JF55 is the big brother of the JV52. :D
