I figure now's as good a time to show my badge as any:
A DV52 NT HR (I think the HR stood for Hand Rubbed finish?), AD520449. I *think* I got this in '97, can't remember. Had no idea what I was getting - my parents wanted to buy me a nicer acoustic (I had been playing a Takamine up til then), walked into Guitar Center, and this was what was recommended. I am completely in love with the sound, and totally dig the matte finish. If I could go back and find the salesman to thank him, I would. Give him a big manly hug, too.
And here's the battle scars, where the wood's actually been worn away around the soundhole, and to a lesser extent, below the pickguard:
It's pretty neat to touch - the inlays (whatever material it's made of) are still there, but the wood around it has been worn away, so the inlay actually creates a relief, of sorts.
Used to be strung with Martin mediums (13-56), but now my hands can't take it anymore so I'm using D'Addario EXP lights (12-53). Plus I like how the EXPs sound mellow out of the package, unlike the Martin strings which sound really bright when new, and take a while to get to the nice mellow sound I like.
I've been chewing the idea of putting a D-TAR multi-source in, to replace the L.R. Baggs pickup (I'm pretty sure it's the LB6 - but again, this was done before I really knew much about the gear I was playing).
I guess that's my formal introduction as a Guild owner, with pictures to back it up.
