Pascal's dentist and my dentist say the same thing. As the gums recede the hard bristles actually wear away at the dentin where it's thinner on the more exposed lower part of the tooth. That gives bacteria a better surface to live on which encourages "pockets" between the gum and the tooth. Mine prescribed a WaterPik to massage the gums and get intio the "pockets". They've got a small handheld model so you don't have to take up 1/2 your counter with the standard unit. I use 50% hydrogen peroxide/water to give an extra anti-bacterial kick. :wink:fronobulax said:My dentist says they are bad for the gums and has tried to get me to believe that my gum disease is a direct result of hard bristled toothbrushes. I'm gonna feel silly again if that was a rhetorical question.jmac said:Sportage...now that's a stupid car name
Toothbrushes...don't get me started! Why can't you buy a hard bristle toothbrush anymore?
Boyoboy, I just realized, if they change something there, it prob'bly ain't gonna be for the better, since it almost never is...I better buy a couple back-ups right away, like I did with my Guilds..
