Jim,

I know you're a rosewood kind of guy, but if you liked that HD28 and its deep low end, you'd probably like my D18 David Crosby Signature just as much. It has the deepest bass of any dread I've ever played, with the possible exception of a $7K D18 Authentic that I tried, though the DC has a adjustable truss rod which is always nice.

I'll bring it to Arlington in October if it won't get me thrown out of the Yacht Club.

Now that would be cool Sandy. Love to play it.

West

Sounds like a plan Jim! I might add that I got lucky with mine, and got it for something south of $2K. I keep an eye on them, and I've not seen one go for less than $2500 since, though mine's not exactly in perfect condition.

You forget all about that as soon as you start playing it though. 8)

West, thanks for that link to hillcountryguitars. I love going to retail online sites and browsing all the different makes and models of guitars. They have a few sound clips too. Fun site. Perfect for a lazy Sunday morning.

As far as slamming Texans goes..... I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm trying to think whom, if anybody, I could possibly look down on. Tom in Vegas

 Going into Hill Country Guitars was sort of like going into a toy store here when I was a kid. We had a place called Kleeb's Toy Ranch, chalk full of 10 speed bikes and these really nicley set up HO scale railroads. I could have stayed there for hours, and did a time or two. But I always knew that most of the stuff there was out of reach as I had a pretty modest upbringing. Checking out the Huss and Dalton, Santa Cruz and Collings guitars was much the same.

 And as far as the Texas comments, well those things only bother you if you let them. If you're proud of where you're from, you just chalk stuff like that up to ingnorance.

I do agree Jim, but sometimes you have to call them on it. Otherwise they think they slipped another one past you, right CJ?

Well the reason I mention "ignorance" is that negative comments about Texas come from people that just don't know....or have never been here. I do challenge anyone who has visited this state to site an instance in which they weren't treated like a king....or queen. Our friendliness and hospitality is what we take the most pride in....and that's pretty universal amongst Texas residents.

By the way Tom, I'm seen some places in Navada that I thought were pretty cool.

Hard to argue with that West. The Tejas contingent made me feel more than welcome on my first sojourn to the state last October. I don't believe I could ever live there due to the heat in the summer, but it sure is a nice place to visit, much better than Lexington KY in that respect.

Can you say "closed society"?

Absolutely, West. I love Las Vegas, and Nevada in general. If I didn't, I wouldn't live here. I was just exercising my flippancy gland...... :D Tom in Vegas

West, I can't tell you how many time I've had the very same thought after hearing comments about France (or even Europe in general) from some Americans.

I want to see Texas and other parts...West, being from way up here in Canada which I love, I sometimes get pi**ed of at the leniency given to some of the bad a** criminals who deserve much more than they get. I grew up learning about guns at a young age too, they don't scare me but seems like people up here have to be controlled or there will be a lot more guns used in crime....as if the criminals all register their guns....and the danger of guns in the hands of regular folks is ignorance...lots of people get shot in the hunting season, mistaken for game....or they get shot with unloaded guns.....plus you gotta love a place that has a 'Guns and Guitars' show.....There is less crime in Texas cause the people know about boundries, right West? And with the climate there are a lot of hot women there too.....  Steffan

Well ... that one got past me; I guess I missed any discouraging words about Tejas and Tejanos in this thread ... I'll call the Leaves and see if I can get a tryout at Goalie.

Tejanos are ok with me; I've never been to Austin or Gilmer ... places I'd like to go; I have been to Dallas, Ft Worth, San Antonio, Fort Hood (the stockade: delivering and picking up prisoners), and Corpus Christi. I didn't check IDs but I'm pretty sure most of the people there were Tejanos and they were just fine.

Did you report it to a Moderator?

What in the world were you doing in that God forsaken place Effin? Been through there once and continued through Dalhart  . My billiard table has more humps. I had a good excuse though, on to Raton and Colorado.

Innocent!!! Must admit; however, the thought crossed my mind. Probably the nicest sounding martin I've ever heard. It was special, indeed.

Trying to stay out of the dialogue concerning Frono's inappropriate remarks toward the Lone Star State. I have nothing against Virginia. Went through there a few times. Nice little state you have there...

I spent a couple of summers working north of Amarillo in a little dusty fart of a town called Stratford. I loved the High Plains.

Interesting veer. I have some thoughts, but given this being a topic specific forum and not a personal opinion blog, I will stick to discussing guitars. Modorator or not, I will choose to think before I speak.
