It comes down to how we assess the credibility of sources. I don't doubt that your source is correctly reporting what was told, but I have to wonder about your source's source. LTG members have reported numerous instances of misinformation obtained from Fender dealers talking about Guild.

Just on 6-8 weeks ago 2 seperate retailers here told me that Guild was going back to producing guitars in Westerly! Just fitting out a new state of the art facility etc, etc. "But they just moved to New Haven" I said, with some sceptism - "No, no, definately going back to Rhode Island", they assured me.

:D :D :D Moving back to Westerly  :?: :?: :?: Now there's a rumor I'd be glad to perpetuate!

Well, going through the posts, I feel pretty lucky to have a local Guild dealer with the monopoly on products coming out of NH. :?

Once again, here is what they have currently hanging on their wall:

Edit: It looks like they just got in a new GSR D50.....hmmm 2 GSR D50s to one dealer? EddieZ already picked up the first one.

If I were going to market guitars; the Live Music Capital of the World (Austin) would probably be the first place I'd consider!

Agreed Ken. Nashville too. I spent a long weekend there with my sister last October and thoroughly enjoyed it; I'd go back in a heartbeat. Austin's on the to-do list, which will be this year if I can wrangle it. 8)

With all due respect it may be that from your part of the world, the difference between Connecticut and Rhode Island is insignificant.

Thanks also for another example of Fender sources clearly believing something about Guild that is contradicted by all other available sources.
They both seemed to know they were different places but were adamant that a new state of the art factory in RI was getting setup - probably some (mis)information from the same Fender Australia rep.

I recall working with an Australian who was frustrated with Americans who thought Australia was like a small town where everybody knew everybody else.
A few people are quite surprised how well we speak English, you know, considering German is our native tongue.

Anyway, the kangaroo has just delivered my mail, so I need to go through that...

Actually, Al.... I want the regular model, but I can AFFORD the neckless one. Plus I thought the neckless one might be easier on the arthritic joints. Possibly. Sound sucks though..... Tom in Vegas

You might have to look into the new line of Guild Air Guitars, each one custom made to exacting detail according tgo the needs of the customer, and they definitely will come from Westerly....with a transferable warranty too. :D :D Oh boy....can't wait for the air mail flyers to arrive.... So, how can you tell when a Fender Rep is lying?

If they used to sell insurance, probably because their lips are moving....

Jeez, I can just imagine the throngs of ex-employees and locals lining up to work for FMIC again.

Well look, it doesn't really matter how much it costs if you don't like it, right? Let's try one out to see if you like it...THEN we'll try to fit it into your monthly budget. What's that? You're retired on a fixed income??......
NEXT!!!
(But you have my complete sympathy!)
