I'm only superficially familiar with AGF, but hey . . . that thread sure livened up a quiet week here at LTG. :adoration:

Earwitness, your posts re: this topic strike me as perfectly fair & well thought-out.

"Wheelclutch" . . . gotta remember that one for future use.

I get a lot out of AGF, but I am willing to believe it was better some time in the past when you liked it. I guess it's too bad I missed that time. (Really, not sarcastically.)
I regret some of my snarky humor in comparison to your calm and sincere input, and no sarcasm there either.
I do trust our forum compatriots to appreciate the humor of the outrageous, though.

Lots of valid points here.

What fried my gourd with regard to the AGF thread in question was the title "Is Guild a Mess?"

It reminds me of major Internet news outlets that create hits for "news" stories that are posed as questions such as:

Did Tony Blair Pee His Pants?

Even if the real story is that Tony Blair spilled Coke in his lap...

Some thread titles have bad names for sure very well could be intentional to get hits .

I posted stupid stuff like one about 12 string capos not realizing there was two recent threads started about capos in general lol

AGF is a good site but it's big and lots of poeple coming in from different angles there bound to hit super parical collider Lol

Lots of skilled folks there luthiers and builders that support/spinster the site .

They helped me get my dream guitars top wood through I found my builder .

Those folks don't get involved in the stuff that thread touched on like here if it's beneith you you won't waste your time on it .

It is the little sh-t like that that sets the record stright some might even bring some new folks over to Guild side Luke .. See how I did that lol

Anyway lots of good info on AGF lots of cannon fodder don't sweet the small stuff ;)

LTG is in a way like my two track music forum were you might have way more members here but we both share about same in active members with some others popping in once in awhile but AGF rolls with folks coming and going no denying that lots of active catagories there that fly well in smaller places .

Well I'm voicing around in big rough truck so sorry for typos lol

Hugs to all ;)

So I suppose "dipstick" is out of the question.

Strang, It's still in my repertoire for sure. But then I don't hang out there or get into it with those people. Dipstick is still one of my favorites. :star:

So funny that you bring that up, Strang! :) :)

One of the moderators over there in that thread actually edited my post because I said "damn" and their filter turned into ****. Unbelievable. They let people flame the piss out of each other, but they edit my "damn" out of my post.

And, I have no idea what's wrong with "jackwagon". I like "dipstick" myself, Strang, but probably wouldn't use it in the heat of flame :).... Truthfully, in this crazy world of today, very little actually fazes me.

I am blessed, or perhaps cursed, with the ability to see innuendo when no one else can. dipstick and jackwagon definitely offer more possibilities than damn, and I am working on wheelclutch. Luckily I don't recall ever having to moderate language that wasn't 'caught' by the software filter.

Most forum software has word filters. I know in the one I run, I can type out a list of words and have the forum replace it with something else. Could be asterisks, or it could be words of my own choosing. That can cause some rather amusing results.
