the cabinet is meant to hang on the wall.

Dearmond R15 on eBay with $3,200 BIN I'm sure it's a great design but the key to the fine tone of these amps has less to do with arranging a handful of resistors and capacitors and more to do with being willing to put big iron in them. Pic below shows the power transformer on the left and the output transformer on the right; by far the most expensive part in the amp.

That's a fairly serious chunk of iron for a twin 6V6 amp - same size as a Super Reverb or a Bassman OT!!!

I'd guess nearly 4 times as large as the OT in the vintage Gibsons ... although Gibson never seemed to find an expense it couldn't avoid.

I've found that there's a limit to oversized O.T.'s though - a friend of mine has a Bandmaster head (2X6L6 in push-pull) with a twin O.T., and it's too much - you can't really turn the bass on that amp above one without it getting too boomy and bassy.

Looks like someone popped for the BIN on the recently listed R15T referenced by CJ. I'm a little surprised at that figure--tweed deluxe territory--and feel pretty fortunate about my own acquisition.

I completely missed that post - wow, that's wild! Never knew something like that existed, something else I want on the wall in my fantasy dream house!

No one at this estate auction knew what it was, i looked at the back and fell in love even though i myself had no idea what it was other than a single channel low wattage tube amp.

it was covered in the brown tolex like the other examples, but the previous (and original) owner had taken it off apparently.

this was the only piece left

Too cool. The original design was certainly... original. But if you were actually using the top for a music stand the sound would dazzle your feet! Looks like you fixed that pretty well :)

Where have all the children gone? To the good Ole days.
That Jenson speaker label got to me.
Chicago, IL. Built in USA
Oh, to see manufacturing come back to the States.

From an article.........
CE Distribution, LLC of Tempe, AZ and SICA Altoparlanti of Italy, the manufacturer of Jensen Musical Instrument Speakers, are announced their latest addition to the Jensen Jet series, the "Tornado", a modern speaker offering defined and articulate sound.

The Tornado produces crystal clear, clean tones accented by shimmering highs. When presented with overdrive distortion, the notes remain well defined with lots of bite. The 12" Jensen Tornado generates this defined and articulate sound with 100 watts of power and a neodymium magnet.

The Jensen/SICA factory in Italy is leading the way in speaker designs using neodymium magnets. The advantage of neodymium is its light weight (half the weight of ceramic speaker magnets) and a more natural reaction to a player's style than ceramic magnet speakers.

The Jet series speakers are designed to fill the gap in the current speaker market. The Tornado is the second model in the series. The first Jensen Jet, the Blackbird has taken the world by storm with 100 watts of pure Alnico power and its modern tone.

With the focus on allowing the player to achieve his signature sound, future Jensen Jet series speaker designs are on the horizon

Hi c70man; eBay auction link to a Jet / Tornado Here. Don't know what to say about the loss of manufacturing jobs ... and now service-sector jobs; apparently nobody does.

Hi jiggaj, maybe because there are fewer electric guitar and amp fans here, it's been a little easier to herd in-bound DeA information here. The same thing can't be said for bridge pins, strings, capos, guitar polish ...  Thanks for sharing. CJ

There's a Martin 112 currently sitting on eBay that gives a little more background on the Tonequest history with these amps.

Gut shots saved! Gotta love the whammy bar holding the circuitboard down.
I saw that   I guess that's the work-around to avoid putting a couple of bolt holes in it!

Has anybody built one of these? What did you use for pots? I'm building a 110 style for my nephew with 6aq5, we'll see if they hold up. I'm collecting parts for a 112 style for myself but can't find .650M or .350M pots, any suggestions?

Does anyone have schematics for a non-trem version? Is it as simple as removing the trem-section as is?

Thanks,
EFR
