That might be part of it. The state of the economy probably plays a big part. Also, more of these started to show up for sale once the prices got so high . Although they are fairly rare, they are out there.
+1 Seems like a lot of great gear is surfacing. Also seems like too few have spare cash to benefit. :(

CJ - that's mine. I'm not very interested in selling it, but I figured I'd give it one shot to see what happens.

Hi Dave; if you read the entire thread, you know our BB Master owns one himself and we use this thread to park all the info/eBay stuff we come by on the Martin/DeArmond amps. Good luck with your sale! CJ

Greetings all -- I'm new to this forum. I found this thread when searching for information about the DeArmond R15T. Unlike the informed folks here, I knew nothing about this amp when it came up for sale as part of the estate of an antiques dealer. I ended up making an offer on the amp and bringing it home. I've had it for a few days and can't get the grin off my face. My lord, I've owned and currently own various vintage Fender tweeds, and none of them can match the tone in this beast! Huge. This particular amp is a 1960 and it is in NOS condition. Incredible I know. Absolutely untouched. I've been playing it despite the little voice telling me to have my tech bring it up on the variac and go through it. It's quiet and no caps have exploded :) Just wanted to share. I'll post some photos if anyone's interested.

Hi Jakers; welcome to LTG, congratulations on your new amp ... and especially getting by without smoking a cap or two on powerup  ! One of the dilemmas of owning amps like these is deciding how much, if any, maintenance and upgrading is suitable. Whatever you decide, good luck and post some pics, including a back-off chassis shot, when you get a chance. CJ

Wow  NOS is right! The tolex looks like something they'd make men's suits out of ... There are one or two schematics for Martin/Dearmonds floating around but I think they all use PECs for the R/Cs in the tone stacks which would help them run quietly and over-sized output transformers ... the key, I think, to their reported fine tone; otherwise they're just a collection of parts and tube sockets like every other amp of the day; there has to be something that separates them from the field. Killer amp! CJ

Oh my!!! That's a keeper for sure!!!

I can relate to not being able to get the grin off your face. Mine was supposed to be a quick turnaround for profit deal.............until I plugged into it. 8)

Hey Jakers,
That is the most absolute Holy Grail find for some folks. A wonderfully clean example too, you lucky devil! Enjoy!

!!

It's just incredible discovering a new amp and all the differnet sounds it can produce. I think my nocaster (reissue) sounds best (tried a LP and strat, too). I'm interested in learning more about the amp and its genesis. From my brief perusal of the Web, it seems few key production details are really known. If anyone knows of some good sources of information, please let me know. Thanks, all!

I realise this is a completely useless post, and I apologise, but am I the only one who thinks those knobs look a lot like Guild knobs?

The knobs are very similar. I've considered using some of the Guild knobs on a few of my DeArmond amps that are missing their original knobs.

Dunno about the knobs Donnie but that's a great view of those potted packaged circuit boards and the isolation bushings on the preamp tubes mounting ears including grounding all the tube sockets to the chassis. Not sure what happens if one of those resistors or capacitors goes south though.

Good point, CJ. I guess you'd have to rebuild the entire section... Not really built to be easily serviced like a Fender. Mine checked out fine and didn't need a thing. I'm just gonna play it and keep my fingers crossed. I can't possibly stick this in the closet.

I understand completely; congratulations again on a particularly fine amp. CJ
