Yes! It's like a really good rosewood in terms of sound. Rich but clear, not muddy. I love it and yet I don't have any guitars made with it. Usually found on higher end guitars.

Martin has some very nice Ziricote guitars. Ziricote (Cordia Dodecandra) is also sometimes called "Mexican Rosewood" because it is native to southern Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

That's not a Martin but nice looking!

Yes, very nice but heavy...however 90% of the sound comes from the top therefore for me back and sides are mostly about the look.

The back and sides do contribute at higher volumes. I guess the reflections come into play. I had a quick e-mail conversation with Kathy Wingert about guitar woods. In that email she said " I like the way Ovations sound, until you play them loud enough to hear the back. " or something very close to that. So, that's what leads me to believe the back and sides do contribute.

Well, I don't know much but I do know there is a significant tonal difference between guitars with Rosewood, Maple and Mahogany back and sides so it's hard for me to accept that they don't contribute significantly to sound/tone. But then again, I'm typically wrong so.......

The age O’l argument . To me absolutely the back and sides matter .
If I had a F30R and F30 would they sound the same ? There built the same same top ,bracing , glues etc . Only backs are different Rosewood on the back of one Mahogany on the other .
It’s kind of funny that the argument goes on but no one brings up all the descriptions of tone woods . It’s like right there !
Rosewood has a warmer tone , balanced strong bass and sparkling highs . Long sustain many over tones .etc
Mahogany has a more woody tone more midrange based . Faster note return , less sustain and tamed down overtones .

So if go looking for other tone woods definition of tone we get ? .... it depends on the top right ? nope we get a list of woods with different tonal properties.
But we have to separate the two . The top has its tonal capabilities it is the main source of the sound but it’s not the main source of tone . They both contribute to the over all tone of the guitar .
My disclaimer is always the build has everything to do with it . Lol

Well, I have an Ovation K1111 reissue, acoustic only, and it's as loud as my HD28V, but that is based on a different concept without "corners".

The fact that wood of sides and back contributes little to the overall sound of a guitar was proved by Torres in the mid 19th century with his famous guitar with cardboard sides and back that sounded great:

That's not the way members here exchange opinions. Clearly as example a F-30 Maple and a F-30 Rosewood and a F-30 Mahogany all sound very different. Having the exact same spruce top and bracing and lets say also the exact same hog neck. So the back and sides wood is not only about the look as you say.
