From Boris’ photo vault is this remarkable image of John being presented with a 12-string Guild Starfire XII electric guitar by Mark Dronge (son of Guild Guitars founder Alfred Dronge) at the conclusion of a press conference at the Warwick Hotel in New York City on August 22, 1966.

The guitar/presentation is often shared and discussed. One example:

I seem to recall that specific picture because of discussion about George being annoyed.

HOLY OVEN MITS BATMAN! Look at them hands! I would normally guess that’s an F212XL, by no fret markers, but up against that gargantuan body that looks like an F112!!😲🫢
Big man! I read somewhere that he was 6'4", but suspect he was taller, and he was heavy built as well, with big hands and feet. Early in his career he was known as Big Foot Chester!

I watched this old vid of J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. on Seth Meyers doing a cover of Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You." Guitarist Graham Clise is rocking a beautiful Guild 12-string.
