Hi Guys,

as mY recent searches for an F50 have yielded zilch, I have decided to specialize on finding the last Guild to round out my collection, which is to be a maple Jumbo. Hence is one of you guys has the following tucked into a closet somewhere please drop me a line:

1960 (my birth year), F50, Ghost label (I havent got a ghost label Guild you see). I'm sorta hoping one of you old chaps might have one about. Now I'm not too worried about whether it's a natural or a Sunburst, pickup or not, and playwear/ repairs dont bother me in the slightest. Also I am in NZ, so you will have to be prepared to ship (just about forgot, will also need a case...)and take paypal. I'm ready to go as soon as you are, but I'm not in any particular hurry. I'd also offer a buyback clause, but in truth shipping NZ to US costs a fortune, and I'm unlikely ever to want to sell anyhow....

Cheers, Ian

Thats gonna be a very difficult order. I haven't seen many 60's Guild acoustics at all and finding an F-50 seems to be a very tall order. I'll keep my eyes out, but there's no promises I won't want to snatch it up for myself!

Hey Ian, I see all this Jumbo talk got to you. Why don't you get the Gibson instead?  1960 huh? I will keep my eyes open for you. There is one for sale in town. Older, but I doubt Hoboken. I will call tomorrow.

Agreed, not common, but I'm prepared to push the boat out for "THE ONE"

Thanks , Ian

It is, and it is....... opened up beautifully, just had it in for some minor work, and the saddle is about as low as you'd want it....but, still doesn't need a re-set, or anything else for that matter....I'm now 'retired' and these instruments have been with me since new...never a professional muisician, so these have stayed at home a lot....I just got a 'new' D50, and am trying to simplify my life considerably....so I may keep my F112 and D50...maybe let go of my Larrivee 09e, and maybe my Jumbos, but weird as it sounds, I'd like to have them go to a good home, where they can be appreciated for another 30+ years....Steffan

I am not sure what year this was made, but, it is the real deal. This is not a laminate back, but rather, solid maple. To my ear, this is the ultimate in guild tone. There is nothing like the tone of a finely aged maple body.

Welcome to LTG! SN lists on the web indicate that is a '64 build... but Guild SN lists are rife with errors, and the mid-60s is one period where their is some uncertainty. Hans Moust may chime in with the date...

The back of that headstock looks very familiar (?) have we seen it before?

Hi Nigel,

Yes I did see that one, I actually preferred the look of the '61 he had. I didnt like those knobs much, and it didnt have a ghost label either did it ?

Hi Joe, Yes I did, but hasnt arrived yet !! Have you played it ?
He might have let me look at it at one time, but I can't remember if he actually let me play it!
I remember sitting in the kitchen at his daughter's place this summer and seeing/playing a few, but I don't think yours was one of them.
Knowing Steffan, on the other hand, I'm sure it's a beauty.

Cheers,
Joe
