Can someone edify me on what makes the Duane Eddy models so special and expensive?
Beyond the association with Duane Eddy, what makes the DE models desirable? Are there any technical differences...pups, woods, other elements?Fewer numbers and higher desirability, in a nutshell.
Basically, it's a low volume 17" thinline. Pretty much unique to the Guild product line.
Maybe, maybe not. But the Ukes are a heck of a lot cheaper! That's awesome, GAD. And you know what? As rare as the DEs are, they're probably not as rare as the Guild ukelele!!
That's right, Chris. The asking prices of the DE's are astronomic. Though the specs suggest that the guitar is unique, and probably designed to suit Duane's twangy style of sound. I can't imagine I'm a player like Duane. Therefore, I should stay away from this one.Maybe, maybe not. But the Ukes are a heck of a lot cheaper!
Were the T-500 and T-400 Guild guitars? I thought the DeArmond T400 was the closest thing to a DE-400.That's how I ended up with a T-500 and a T-400 GSR. They were still cheaper than a DE.
I must say that these models didn’t wow me on paper at the time they came out. Then you handed me your T500 at Grot’s LMG. Damn nice guitar.Yes.
You might want to look at Gretsch's Duane Eddy guitar or Duane Eddy 6-string bass. Their prices are more reasonable!Since Duane Eddy was an early inspiration to me as a guitarist--I saw him live in 1959--I would love
to have a DE-500, but they are out-of-this-world expensive!
The Gretsch is pretty. You might want to look at Gretsch's Duane Eddy guitar or Duane Eddy 6-string bass. Their prices are more reasonable!
