Have owned several of the DeArmond T400s - nice guitars -
have been advised (here on LTG) that any significant similarities between
it and a Guild DA pretty much end at the body shape / depth.

I had a number of the DeArmond T400's and found them to be very nice guitars. Interestingly I eventually picked up one of Crimson red early model T400 and it had a number of issue with the neck. I returned it. I did have a Blond and TOrange one also. Both great guitars. I sold them after picking up a Red mahogany DE400. In hind sight I wish I kept the T400. The T400 was considered DeArmonds top of the line guitar. Where the typical DeA neck had a "scarf" joint Bonded Headstock the T400 had a Head with "ears"" on the neck like a standard Guild guitar.

Had I kept them I would have swapped pickups and added Franz and a set of 2000's. Those DeA T400 don't show up very often. During the DeA blowout days they were selling in the $300 to $400 range, no case.

My ex DE - I had the metal parts gold-plated and got new Guildsby and bridge - they could not plate original aluminum parts.

Needles to say I've regretted a lot that I ever let it go.

In looking at that back of headstock joint I also now recall that neck was a multi piece assembly. That design is a very stable and significantly less prone to warping as compared to single piece neck. In hind sight it wouldn't make much sense to do a scarf joint on that design.
I see my SF1 series of Guild guitars have scarf joints.

A little odd perhaps with the T400 in that the nicer-looking wood
is on the back and sides - sure isn't on the front
