We want to be free! We want to be free to do what we want to do! We want to be free to ride. And we want to be free to ride our machines without being hassled by The Man. And we want to get loaded. And we want to have a good time! And that’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna have a good time. We’re gonna have a party peter fonda wild angels 1966

Similar is one from Townes Van Zandt- "There's only two kinds of music: the blues and zippety doo-dah."

And this resentment generally takes the form of meaningless laughter or of criticism, if not persecution. But this apparent violation is preferable to the monstrous habits condoned by etiquette and estheticism."

"I had a 'ol stupid writer once ask me; he said man, what are you, what are you really?" "So I wrote a song about it, and this is what I am. Really." Ronnie Van Zant (RIP) in the intro from a live recording of "Whiskey Rock and Roller"

Well, I don't know what to tell you. English is not my first language, and I understand the quote just fine.

Nope. However, I was part of the crew who did a ground up restoration of one of these two CM.170s that live in Florida now: Fouga Magister

Ever tried to find proprietary sized French hardware and fasteners from the brief period of "Metric Française" in the late 50s and early 60s? It is a bit like trying to find spare parts for a Borgward in Antarctica.

In spite of the challenges, she turned out gorgeous.

I'm betting that not a lot of people know about Borgward. (Before they Googled)

I bet you are right!

If I ever find an Isabella in a barn and take it home, I promise to share pictures. My childhood buddy Bert came from a Borgward home and I've loved 'em since I first saw 'em. His Dad had a wagon, a coupe, a cabriolet and some sedans. Of course, this was back in '79 or '80 and he had a nice big shop on his land. Heaven knows where those ended up.

To wrestle it back on topic, ol' Fred (rest his soul) was a pilot who also had us do work restoring his Yaks. He had a very colorful expression about budgets:

"If it floats, [makes love], or flies, it's expensive."

The world comes to end for somebody every day.
My father.

Better to have it and not need it, than vice versa.
Don’t know who to attribute it to, but used often by my father.

A reporter once asked Jack Nicklaus why he always teed his ball up so high, he replied "Based on years of practice and experience, I've ascertained that air offers less resistance than dirt."

Ex-Detroit Lion Alex Karras walked into the 19th hole after blading his approach shot through the clubhouse window. When he saw his ball lying on the clubhouse floor he asked "Is this out of bounds?"

"How'd ya like to die in a house of mirrors with no one around to close your eyes?" John Prine

"She's got more nerve than a bad tooth."

Kid to his dad "If drinking and driving is illegal, why do bars have parking lots?"

Not in order of preference, just a few of my favorites. :)

Country music is three chords and the truth - Harlan Howard

Music is the art of thinking with sounds - Jules Combarieu

Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me
-ABBA

Often wrong, seldom in doubt - Anonymous
