Midnight Toker,
Using four different printed versions of the music, and watching videos of either the group or individual members playing the song, I have come up with a version that is close to correct. What I am seeking are the finishing touches, and hoped that perhaps another member here knows the song and has a version that is better than mine.

Sorry, my post wasn’t a direct response to your inquiry, but rather an aside to frono’s veer and just a general thought about additional tools that are available that help players figure out songs on their own. In the case of the app that slows songs down while staying in pitch, they can be essential for figuring out faster single note solos and such. 😉

I saw this one on an old episode of Scrubs last night and was reminded how wonderful the acoustic version is. I think this is next on the list.

So there are certain parts of certain songs that I tend to forget, at least partially forget. And if I think I will need to play such a song I will spend some time practicing/recalling/refiguring out. I did that today on In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. You know the part before the jam where leading up to and including the diminished scale riff they throw in there and then the arpeggios right after... and then the riff that ends one of the guitar solos and leads into the keyboard break. That part. Anyway it's sorted, I hope for now. Jamming tonight with our original bassist who moved to Florida and he loves that song.

I'll probably screw it up anyway. lol

Been working on a twelve string arrangement for “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. Almost done. The original tuning is a crazy BDDDDD. Ive changed that up a bit. I’m using an JF65-12 for the foundation, then a ‘72 F212XL and a JF65 six string for the accompanying guitars. I’m using my son‘s drums, Yamaha full jazz set and his Ibanez bass for the track as well. I’d like to be able to cover as much as I can with just one twelve string for playing out alone. Challenge is, I just picked up playing a twelve string 5 months ago.

Also for you guys looking to rehydrate your guitars, here’s a solid method. Call me crazy, but I’m pretty sure he’s got that Guild F47M at about 100% moisture content.🫣🫢🌧

Working on rudiments today... been a bassist since 1980, guitarist since 1984... but wanted to play drums since about 1990. FINALLY got started with a kit over the summer. I had gotten a beginner set for the daughter, but I had no way to teach her and she started showing more interest in guitar. I upgraded the stands, the snare, the cymbals, the heads, throne... basically took the shells that were decent and built a decent kit around them. I try to put 2 days practice time a week on each instrument... bass, guitar, drums.

Am giving "Scotch and soda" a rest until JohnW63 finishes his excellent and very helpful suggestions on the music.
On Thursday I spent about two and a half hours tabbing the intro to Eric Clapton's " Give me strength" by repeatedly listening to the song.
With my tin ear, that's as far as I managed to get, so yesterday and again today, I am learning the intro by playing along repeatedly to the song.
So far I haven't received a call from him about forming a new supergroup, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Perhaps later next week.
