2007 F-47MC Ice Tea Burst?
This just received from dealer in Florida through Reverb. Only a couple small marks on the sound board and the case is perfect. Maybe a closet Queen. The plastic protection on the pick guard is still on it. SN TK143009 Wednesday May 23 2007
Restrung this morning with Martin .0115 custom silk and steel and being played today. My first Maple Guild / any brand / and I really like the sound. So different from my Rosewood and HOG bodied guitars.
Walt, I do believe you’ve acquired perfection right there. Just beautiful in every way - Many Congrats!

I know you posted this last year, James, but I was just looking through the thread and saw this again. That Framus is a marvel. I'm blown away. What's the back wood on that, by the way, James? And, also, where the heck did you find a Framus drum head (is that original)?

Just amazing. That looks like it was a LOT of work to get back into shape. But, a labor of love. Do you play banjo?

Thanks for sharing those pix earlier!

Pretty sure it is Mahogany like the neck... I know I've seen Framus screen printed heads, the one pictured in the before pictures was the original with a screw driver punctures. I was looking for a specific banjo tone with the Remo one I bought... sounds awesome to me but if I ever feel like pulling it, I will put the label under the tail piece.

The work was a LOT of disassembling, polishing, and reassembling! But went quick... the set up was pretty hairy.

I learned some chords and some beginner Tenor Banjo lines but never went further... but no, I don't play. I hope to pick up a 5 string to mess someday but for now I try to fake banjo like parts on the Framus :)

I was just playing it last week, the wife and daughter like it more than the D40

How is "Patches" doing, Brad?!

I'm having the good kind of trouble putting it down. It suits me so well that I'm beginning to wonder if the guitar I'm currently building will have any chance of getting equal time. I've built about 20 guitars now, and Patches is in another league altogether. I guess I sort of surprised myself.

Tick, tick, tick, Jeff...

Still on track?
Got a "half time" deal for next year, then totally done 5/25, although paid until 8/25. Half the course load, in only two days, half my salary, 403B match still in place, less required meetings.

I'd say I was fading away instead of burning out, but perhaps it's a bit of both!

Congrats Jeff! I'm sure you will enjoy the process and the reduction in days. The final outcome is worth waiting for if severing it outright isn't possible. My last year on the job was reduced hours too, I worked Tuesday - Thursday and the last 7 weeks it was 2 days and still the separation anxiety was still quite noticeable..............theirs not mine. I was asked everyday during my last 7 weeks if I would change my mind an stay longer. I've been called in 3 times since I left to sort out some things that they couldn't figure out.
EDIT: Woops, not retirement thread..................Sorry! Need more Coffee:rolleyes:

I bought a Marley A-20. Smooth, light and sounds great. My first new Guild. Could not resist it with the extras it came with. 1000002775.jpg

I finally got around to framing the Marley and Guild poster that came with my A-20.

Took the CO1 and A50 flattop out for a string change and cleaning. Spent the day noodling on some Neil Young double drop D tunes. Boy these are fun little guitars that can get surprisingly loud!

I have been playing a Yamaha “snakehead” F-170 which might be 50 years old. She’s a lively little gal. I was gonna sell it but may have a niece who is interested. These are great guitars and this one is in good shape. I bought during the pandemic and learned to play finger style (not well, but still) on This guitar. Since I got my GV-52, other acoustics are not getting much attention but I am blessed with two other great guitars and it was good to get reacquainted with this one.

Boy, that Contemporary's soundboard has darkened/aged nicely over the years. (y)

Yeah, both tops on these are beautifully darkened to a nice golden orange color. The CO1 cedar is especially nice. They were like that when I got them, so wonder if they are actually lightly stained.

I'm playing all of them fiddling with my new hearing aids. So far, so good on that front. I've found acceptable and am looking to improve on that when I go back to the pros.

DS240 - it may be a cheaper model but I love it - not too loud, full sounding without being boomy and it starts to compress just at the right point for my playing. It’s a flattering guitar to play.
