I sure agree with you Joe.....It usually originates in Alaska.  Do you know what "three dog night" actually means? Steffan
The band, Three Dog Night ("Joy to the World") got their name from the Australian aboriginal custom of sleeping with a dog to keep warm. A very cold night would be a 'three dog night.'
Makes sense to me!

We've only had a few flakes here.

My new snow blower is resting comfortably in the garage. I hope to sell it in mint condition to a vintage snow blower collector one day. Not likely, but a man has to dream.

Frosty,

I get the feeling that you have a really sweet companion there. Enjoy every minute you get to spend together.

Is that a red bandana I see around her(?) neck?

[quote="Bing k":27m4mhgs]We had 5-10 inches fall today and were headed for 19 below.

Shiver me timbers...........how do y'all survive that stuff. I can hear the water pipes breaking as we speak.

Yikes, I've got to go out right now and shut off the outside water in the front.

Did the back last week, but forgot the front.

Thanks for reminding me, West.

We had a dusting of snow last night.

We wear bright orange things in the woods this time of year. Though this morning's hike was in posted conservation land and hunters are not supposed to be in the area, that is her autumn collar. When hiking near areas that permit hunting she wears an orange vest.

Reminded me of Bill Staines (again) and the part of October Winds where he makes it a point to "tie a red bandana round that old sleepy dog of mine," or something to that effect. Good idea!

Best,
Joe

It'll help if you set up a forum where the collectors can exchange reminiscences of their favorite blowers, sightings of usage by famous people, tech support and maybe someone who's written a book about 'em. One point to remember though is that it won't age properly if you don't use it. Funny, now that I think about it I think my girlfriend said that very same thing to me last night   !

6 to 12 inches headed our way. With the added bonus of blowing and drifting for Wed. morning.

Hey Guilded, do I need a license to hunt bail skips in Texas?

Was she talking about your....snow blower?
Joe
oh, uh, YEAH! That's it! In other news Spivey used his blower so although it may no longer be mint it's begun to be properly aged.

A foot of snow fell and subfreezing temps have made for a slippery surface. Took this cell phone shot on our morning walk. My pup like to roll over onto her back, wriggle and slide down a hill. She knows how to have fun!

Yeah, baby - 6 more inches of the white stuff last night with considerable blowing and drifting. It was coming down so hard last night when I was driving, it has a hypnotizing effect when the heavy snow is coming at you in the headlights

Of course the dogs love it! This is Mocha, he's a Yorkie-Toy Poodle. He's real easy to see in the snow. :D

How many feet of snow must it blow before it opens up?
HAH! Can't fool me! I know a trick question when I see one! If it wasn't already opened up it wouldn't be able to blow any snow!
Also I just remembered a word of caution from the late great Frank Zappa, this is one of those things better said than left unsaid since the consequences could be dire: "Watch out where the huskies go and don't you eat that yellow snow". Couldn't have said it better myself.
