Woke up to a foot of fresh, white snow this morning. All the schools are closed, we're gonna have to shovel out here pretty quick. I don't mind shoveling this fluffy white stuff, but I wish I had a dual-stage self-propelled snowthrower when the heavy stuff comes down...nah, I'll just get my boy to help me :D

This is our puppies' first experience with snow, couldn't get 'em back in the house for a long time, they were playing in the snow like a couple of little kids. The goldendoodle has long, curly lambs wool (no shedding either, what a bonus :D ) and she came in with about 40 pounds of iceballs in her fur  I'll post some photos later when I get batteries for the camera.

Hey Dread - are we talking about dogs in the snow? I'm in!

My good friend is also a golden/poodle mix, "goldendoodle", who loves the snow. Waiting for the first flake of the season here in my corner of New England.

Re: What a beautiful sight!

Record early snow expected in Houston today Dread....bout 200 miles south of me here. It snows in Houston about every 4 years, this year's is the earliest on record.

:) My dogs would want to come in during a snow, they've seen a couple of snow storms......we do have a slight possibility today....pretty chilly out there.

Re: What a beautiful sight!

yeah, Frosty, I think I'm going to try her out on skijoring this year, where you put a tow rope on your dog's harness, strap it around your waist, and go nordic skiing behind the dog. I suppose staying on the trail would be a good thing, we're gonna have to see how that all works out. She's got the webbed feet of the golden retriever so I'm thinking that's gotta be good for a pulling dog. She's gonna need all the advantage she can get towing ol' Dread around

Re: What a beautiful sight!

When I lived in the mountains in northern New Mexico, I had a totally white shepherd-mix that I named Fred. Cross-country skiing with me (I was on skis) on deep snow was Fred's finest hour. He did a remarkable 'porpoise impersonation' forging through the snow and always impressed me with his obvious love for the white stuff.

I find myself missing Fred when the snow starts to fall. :(

Gentleman Jim,

I had no idea it ever snowed in Houston. I thought it never got cold enough, and never stopped raining long enough.

Pretty rare Doc. Every several years or so they get a light dusting. I think they got an inch or two today.

Probably even 2 or 3 years ago - It doesn't snow much here anymore - Global Warming (oops - hope Jim doesn't see this  )

Thankee sir - I have already seen it and expressed my thanks there too :D Of course it prompted a facetious comment from Carl, but I rose above it and ignored it
