I’ve been seeing fewer 100 series Guild Westerly Collection models offered for sale at online dealers, and models like the D-120, D-140, and OM-120 among others have disappeared from the Guild web site. Anybody know what’s happening?

I heard a thing a while ago but can’t back it up.
availability and tension between both countries is no doubt playing a roll but stock most likely declined starting with covid . Maybe just models that aren’t selling well .
Anyone know how the import sales have been ?
Competition is another possibility . Other then I a wait someone actually knows . Lol 😂

Seems to list a lot. My guess is the umbrella name Westerly Collection remains but, as noted, some models are going away.

It appears to be the 100 Series (all solid wood) guitars that are being discontinued. There are still a lot of the cheaper 200 series (laminated arch back) guitars still in the lineup.

Funny. I saw a few used WS guitars for sale and I thought "I've never heard of an "x".

So I went to the Guild site and was blown away by the sheer number of models and variants.

Are they all specific to Guild or are some rebranded Cordoba models?

My gut says there are more acoustic Guild models now than in any previous era.

Dont like to see them phase in and out whole lines like that.....but I suppose if they ain't moving. Doesn't improve the lineage of the brand tho.....

Cordoba guitars have nothing to do with Guild guitars. Two very different guitar brands under one owner (CMG).

Are these all Oxnard (or Cordoba import) discontinued models? The list looks long and are these just colour variations or the actual model gone?

Guild USA is Oxnard.

Westerly and Newark Street are non-USA production.

Without looking at Guild's website I know you can still get a Newark Street Starfire II bass, just not in red or black.

I'm pretty sure the M-85 I bass has also been discontinued although it didn't make @SFIV1967 's list :)

So there is a mix of discontinued colors and discontinued models.

The original Newark Street Starfire I bass has a bisonic pickup. It has been replaced with the Starfire I bass which has a P style PU, different bridge and the cutaways are not as deep, relative to the fingerboard. You could argue whether they created a new model but recycled the old name or whether it is the same model but with changed features.

Well, you can check the Guild webpage what's listed as available. That is the current US-production portfolio made in Oxnard:

interesting Ralf and thanks for posting this. I wonder then if we will one day soon hear an announcement re what CMG plans to do with Guild...that is a lot of DC'd product, and I cannot imagine them surviving on D55 and F512...or maybe they are doing well with electrics etc?

That's sounds too ominous (and possibly depressing). Please rephrase. :)
Is it normal for a company to just DC most of the product line? Maybe a better list would be what models are still in production and is CMG profitable with the remainder of the line?

"DC most of the product line" ? Have you even checked the current webpage? Why should one compile a list of "in production" models if one simply needs to check the webpage? That's a very negative view.

I think you are being alarmist or not seeing the whole picture. Many consumer driven products undergo changes from year to year to entice people into buying This Year's Model even when their 3 year old item functions as well as it ever did.

My opinion is that the Newark Street and the Westerly Collection carried the company while they built the Oxnard plant. That could still be the case.

fair enough and good feedback guys. I withdraw my concern.
that list just looked super long, and yes, still lots of viable options on the Guild website.

I think that's what got the thread started. There seems to be only M120 and M140 left of all the 100 level models and no 150 level at all, so the bulk of former GAD style guitars is gone. Westerly line is now almost completely laminate budget guitars.
