If you can stand it, try to leave them on for a bit and see if they wear in...I have to say, first up on the Collings and they were loud and proud, still are though she isn't getting played much.
I would love a report on how they sound on a D55, may have to do that myself, but I've got Ernie Ball 80/20's on her at this point which have been on so long and sound so good I don't want to upset that delicate balance. Ernie Ball acoustic strings on a Guild, can you believe it?
Would love to hear how the NB sound on a D55 in Bluegrass-mode...
where is Martin-Taylor-Guild when we need him?
Also, just to throw a vere into this, hailing Tom In Vegas! Just Strings has a sale on GHS strings, might want to look at the Bright Bronze...not sure if they are still a deal after adding your postage...
GHS Bright Bronze, just-so-ya-know, are GHS's version of an 80/20 string sort of...they sound wonderful on a D55, though do not last as long as PB's...if there is a set of strings for the "I have a gig tonight and cannot have that D'Addario clankiness," "put 'em on and go play," then these are a good candidate!
Hope you have my back here, Tom...
