Great, great album, other than that one massively cringey track (not this track, but "Battleground.")
Goes back to a time when people took a moment to understand what was meant by a word, rather than just immediately losing their minds.

"David the King" - Tina Brooks

This is from Brooks' long-delayed posthumous release, aptly (and sadly) titled The Waiting Game. Brooks only got to do a few sessions as a bandleader, and this one was shelved until long after his death basically because someone at Blue Note didn't like him.

The few recordings we do have of Brooks show he was an amazing talent, but after The Waiting Game he lost himself to the bottle and the needle. He wound up playing seedy clubs for chump change, and eventually died of his addictions, destitute.

"And Your Bird Can Sing" - Sid and Susie (Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs)

From their transcendently excellent Under the Covers series. There are three volumes: 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. This is from the first volume. Both of them have a deep love and understanding for the music they're covering, and their choices are not always obvious but always well-selected.

The music business is full of small people who wield what little power they have for the pettiest of reasons. I have a friend who had a chance for a contract blocked because his manager refused to work with the A&R guy who wanted to sign him. He has a PhD now so I guess it all worked out?

This easy to play game has attracted a lot of players on a PRS forum I visit. It can go on forever!

The rules are very easy. Take someone's song that was posted, and either post another song that has a word from the title in it...or post a song that is in some way connected to the prior song. It gets more challenging when you try not to replicate a prior song's appearance. I'll get it started....follow this post with a song that has at least one of the words from the title in it...or can be somehow associated with the prior song either by content, artists, theme....whatever. I'm looking for rules that invite participation...not exclusion. Just try not to repeat a song that was already used.

OK? I'll do the first two to get started.

Not 100% Sure I am doing this right, but I would say Revolution #9
