"Goodbye to You" - Scandal

This is from Scandal's first EP, which established Patty Smyth as a great stage presence. Things turned sort of weird for them eventually, with choreographed concept videos for songs like I Am the Warrior, and eventually they broke up.

At one point she was offered the front spot in Van Halen after David Lee Roth quit, and wouldn't that have been interesting? But she turned it down. But even without Scandal she's still out there, in her 60s now, still rocking.

You posted that before, @Nuuska. :D

"Back to the Family" - Jethro Tull

Stand Up is still my favorite Jethro Tull album. There's not a wasted note on it. When I was in high school art class, I did a painstaking scratchboard copy of the woodcut cover art as my semester project. Got an A+.

The expanded reissue has a bunch of added tracks, including interviews and radio promotion spots. One of the promos describes the sound of the album as "like Cream with a flute." Which I guess is fair, although to be frank I like Tull a lot more than I ever liked Cream.

True story about Jethro Tull: when they were first starting out, their blend of electric blues and Ren Faire sensibilities didn't go over well, and a lot of the clubs they played told them never to come back. So their manager kept changing the band's name to get them booked, and Jethro Tull happened to be the name du jour when they finally overcame that handicap.

"Getting in Touch with My Inner Bitch" - Christine Lavin

Christine Lavin's songs are either gentle, beautiful, and heartfelt, or else wry, broadly comic, and flat-out hilarious.

This is one of the second kind.
