Oh wow you own all those on that page??? Some nice gems in there. I have been wanting an ‘87 Nightbird really bad’ but I made a smarter investment in my Starfire imo! Those guitars are beautiful( I had a Starfire IV Newark that I really liked but the intonation started to go and it just got worse and worse. When it was shipped to me it wasn’t in a case and it came from Arizona to NC so I believe that was the culprit but ultimately Guild luthiers declared it dead and luckily I bought full coverage’ so I’m on the fence with the construction of the newarks but I do think electronically they’re very nice. But I need a new one shipped in a case to truly have a full opinion..the case is still out there for me but I’ll def give ‘em another shot!) I am hoping however they start back up MIA electric guitars which I’ve heard from some guild personnel that they’re considering it but that was 4 years ago so… idk
That was another version of the link to GAD's page, they're not mine

Very cool answer! Basically exactly what I thought except I didn’t know the early ones were hand carved, that’s cool! My Starfire was bought by a Guitar Shop proprietor and it says it’s a Guild Starfire VI-stereo-special order. It makes me wonder what that special order was about.. He’s dead now and was sold to me thru a 3rd party but I still consider that as me being the 2nd owner. Anyways thanks for the reply! What starfires do you have if you don’t mind indulging me! All guilds really!! Haha

Also for f**ks Hal Leonard reprint the Guild Book!! You will make money and stop these “poachers”!!
A good number of us have copies of The Guild Guitar Book and we'd be glad to look something up for you 🤔

... if you don’t have anything to say about Guilds F**K off…
Hey bro I’m sorry about quickly getting angry but I’m ready to learn whatever you have to teach! So tell me what it is I should learn here?

I'm OK with @COONEY 's responses to my comment. While I was trying to be polite maybe I had it coming?

The author of the Guild Guitar Book is Hans Moust who posts here and there are numerous previous discussions about the book and publishing history.

When the book was sold for the first time to an original purchaser both Hans and Hal Leonard, the publisher received payments. When the book is sold again, they receive nothing. By analogy, how much does Oxnard (Guild) receive when someone sells a made in Westerly Starfire? In both cases the asking price may or may not reflect the sale price. The high asking prices do not indicate any real demand at similar prices. Indeed some booksellers advertise an outrageous price as a form of advertising.

Hans did negotiate at least one reprinting but the fact that it remains out of print indicates any subsequent negotiations have not yielded results. The expected profit is not huge enough.

Well, my language I am sorry for but does this forum allow people to write posts that are only posted to make me look stupid and arouse content not help me in anyway? Is that the purpose of this page? To gain knowledge right? Not to make comments that show how stupid I am… I came here for knowledge not to be made fun of for not knowing everything in the world! Revoke my membership I don’t care at this point! He made a decision to point out my ignorance without actually helping the thread; is that correct usage of this forum? If it is I don’t want any part of such an organization. And Guild themselves might find it a bit off brand for a moderator or anyhigh member of the website which I’m sure they can shut down if people are using a Guild forum to show hate and not spread knowledge like I asked for once I calmed down. I have PTSD and I made a comment which censored the curse word but curse words aren’t the only words that are bad; words which are DEA

hey man! Like I said I’m so sorry for reacting so quickly and so negatively but let me be honest with you so we can better understand each other. I have PTSD and I’m quick to speak my mind when I feel slighted in any way but I’m working on it with a therapist and have progressed quite far. One year ago I wouldn’t have apologized and probably been stupidly more belligerent in my comments. Now, that we know a little more about each other I hope you understand that this Guild community can be a great resource for me in getting back to a normal existence. Anyways enough blah blah about me! Haha I’m glad you seem to be an understanding and empathetic soul; that gives me hope!
That one Member who chastised me about what I said really pissed me off but when I saw what you had to say, I said, “This guy, I like!!” So, anyways I would love to take you up on trying to help me date “precisely” my 1970 Starfire VI (special order) if you wouldn’t mind good sir?! Um I know you need the serial number but is there anything’s else you need? I appreciate you recognizing that I was just frustrated because I felt a little like you were belittling me but I still shouldn’t have responded quite as harsh! You’re empathetic me friend and you could tell I’m here to learn and promote all things Guild till the day I never breathe again! I’m in it Guild all the way. Hank Williams III is an exclusive guild guy but I’m sure you knew that. Also my favorite is Kim Thayil(spelling idk) from Soundgarden is a huge 90% Guild only! I love the spirit of which gives Guild Guitars a special uniqueness and elegance no guitar company besides C.F. Martin… forever hail Guild; the Gibson Killer! Thanks for your time and understanding,
Your Friend & Guildsman,

No, you did not have it coming.
He may have just a bit. I was asking for help and felt belittled and not educated which is the spirit of this site. He and I have worked it out like men and are cool. People have the right to be forgiven for a hasty action that he immediately tries to remedy. Mind your own business my friend or be nice and accept a new member and show me a little hospitality and help me with whatever my Guild related issue; that’s what I want! I’m really a nice person and I’ll be a great asset to this community you’ll receive it in kind! I need this community and let’s all just be easy.. cool?!

Hey I would love to know what the book says! Supposedly I’m the 2nd owner so the date is probably accurate. Basically I wanna know when it was made. I was told 1970 but I’m not sure if it’s maybe a 1969 build that got labeled a ‘70. Idk. I’m just curious really. Is the serial # all you need good sir?

The Book doesn't offer any help with serial numbers. This page may help but I've heard it's notoriously inaccurate:
or

There is a photo of a sunburst SF VI Stereo from 1970 on page 99. There is a description of the SF VI on page 89 along with a timeline of production changes up to 1977.

It's all in there in the book on page 47. Last 1969 SF-VI serial was DB 339, so anything starting DB 340 would be 1970. And later in 1970 the S/N system switched to the all digits numbers again and the last 1970 S/N is given as well.

According to my serial number it’s early 1970 just as the man who had bought it in 1970 had said. Haha thanks for the info bro!
