I have a 1970 Guild Starfire VI Stereo(which is awesome) and I’m curious what year they changed up the body to less “thin” and changed neck shape from a “C” to a “D”?
I may be wrong altogether but I want answers because the damned Guild Book to date them goes for 300+ for some reason! Jesus Guild just print more!!!
I also have this beautiful F-50ce that I bought new. The Starfire believe it or not I’m just the 2nd owner which trips me out looking at the original paperwork! Very cool!

Guild didn't print the Guild book; Hal Leonard did.

I don't think any of my Starfires have a real D neck. There is a lot of variation in them over the years, though. There's no single cutoff where everything changed. I will say that the early-mid '70s Starfires have the thinnest and smallest necks in my experience. They get deeper in the late '70s. They get wider in the '90s. Back then they were hand carved (not sure about the '90s) so there can be variation between guitars in the same year.

Very cool answer! Basically exactly what I thought except I didn’t know the early ones were hand carved, that’s cool! My Starfire was bought by a Guitar Shop proprietor and it says it’s a Guild Starfire VI-stereo-special order. It makes me wonder what that special order was about.. He’s dead now and was sold to me thru a 3rd party but I still consider that as me being the 2nd owner. Anyways thanks for the reply! What starfires do you have if you don’t mind indulging me! All guilds really!! Haha

Also for f**ks Hal Leonard reprint the Guild Book!! You will make money and stop these “poachers”!!

Wow tell me more about that green one! I’m assuming it’s a III but it got nice binding all over. I love the color!

Oh wow you own all those on that page??? Some nice gems in there. I have been wanting an ‘87 Nightbird really bad’ but I made a smarter investment in my Starfire imo! Those guitars are beautiful( I had a Starfire IV Newark that I really liked but the intonation started to go and it just got worse and worse. When it was shipped to me it wasn’t in a case and it came from Arizona to NC so I believe that was the culprit but ultimately Guild luthiers declared it dead and luckily I bought full coverage’ so I’m on the fence with the construction of the newarks but I do think electronically they’re very nice. But I need a new one shipped in a case to truly have a full opinion..the case is still out there for me but I’ll def give ‘em another shot!) I am hoping however they start back up MIA electric guitars which I’ve heard from some guild personnel that they’re considering it but that was 4 years ago so… idk

If you click on it (or the header for the paragraph) it will tell you everything you could possibly want to know.

Some I've sold, but every guitar except one on that page is or was owned by me. I have many many more waiting to be reviewed.

Wow. That’s just so cool. I knew there were guild heads out there because I am and I know Hank III exclusively plays Guilds mostly Nightbirds but you have had so many great things to look. I definitely am jealous.

That comment suggests you have a learning opportunity concerning the publishing business, the used book market and the history of the Guild Guitar Book, should you be interested. I'm pretty sure things don't work the way you think they do.

And it better be more than just Intellectual Property and whom owns it and has the rights to publish because when I went to the academy of contemporary music in okc I had several music business classes so I’d just like to learn a little more if ya don’t mind!!

I have a Guild Starfire VI Shoreline Mist and am having tuning issues. I heard replacing the bridge with a roller bridge will help. Anybody know which roller bridge specifically would work on an arch top guitar with a wooden base? I guess I just need to know the diameter of the bridge posts, not listed anywhere.
