Because so many of you are holding your breath waiting for more information - tonight in 4 hours + 43 mins is the moment of solstice here.
I give you some graphs to see what's all about.
Credit of information goes to this www-page
It is in finnish
Center of that map is downtown Tampere - 8,15km East-Southeast from my place - so close enough.
Red curve indicates the longest day of the year and direction where sun rises and sets.
Green is "today" - and today it happens to be same as red curve.
Black is the shortest day of the year. Besides of not having light we are freezing our buns as bonus . . .
Map of Finland shows you the times of sunrise and sunset today - plus length of daylight - depending where you are.
Top left "yötön yö" means "night without night" - the sun doesn't go down at all.
My location is northwest from Helsinki - at the end of that slightly thicker line - which is a freeway - we do not have thet many freeways here.
Finally this table - here in Tampere
On left column are the months
Second column is sunrise
Third column is sunset
Fourth column is length of day hr:min
Fifth column is the max elevation of sun in degrees
Sixth column is compass direction of sunrise
Seventh column is compass direction of sunset
Just in case you did not know all this before . . .
