I’d be okay with the bridge & saddle if the action could be dialed in to my liking as things sit right now. Trying to go any lower with the saddle would be difficult, as there’s very little left, but ramping the bridge would help the break angle of the strings if deemed necessary.

But again, if it plays comfortably for you the way it now sits, it will probably be good for quite a few years. With fifty long years under it’s belt, the majority of it’s structural shifting has most likely already occurred!

It's higher than I like, not really comfortable for me. It's a shame because I like the neck shape and I love the look of the hog top. I can see why people love these.

With that photo and you saying the action is high for you, then that tells me it's in neck reset territory for sure. There's really not much saddle to work with. And remember that for the amount you want to lower the action at the 12th fret, you have to take DOUBLE that amount off the saddle height. I don't really see that as an option. Maybe if they'd give you enough off to compensate for a neck reset but you'd have to want to put the work in. Sorry it's not all you hoped for.....

Thanks Tom - that's immediately what I thought when I tuned it up, and to be honest it's pretty much what I expected when I bought it. I'm returning i tomorrow.

Coop, nice photos!
That bridge looks original to me, not seeing any signs it's
been removed and altered. But yeah, what Tom said - it's
likely a neck reset to get it as good as it can be.

That's what I get for not reading the whole post.
Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Thanks. No biggie - I was able to return it without a hassle, and I got an idea of what one of those early lighter D25s are like. My 80 D25 was also from GC and it's great. Win some, lose some.
